@violann  Kitchen counters aren't just decorating.  They are one of the most used and abused and important surfaces in your house.  Their condition and material has a lot to do with how sanitary, safe, and efficient your food preparation is.  It's not so much about how they look.

So that being said, GUIDE your husband to see what are the important points of this versus the money versus the appearance.  I'd say they are as important to your life as the tires on your car and I'll draw that analogy

The tires are about performance in different weather conditions, how they will wear, what the cost vs. performance is, how long they will last, how safe they are, how they ride and corner, then but also important, how they will look on your vehicle.  The size, color, tread pattern and sidewall profile really does affect your vehicle's look and value, and how much you enjoy it. 

SO when you talk about countertops, it isn't just what do I like or do I want to replace them or not.  It's not a simple decision, but an important part of how your home functions and looks.

Well I know what I would do. LOL!!! Tell DH you are remodeling the kitchen or he can be the Chef every day. I already make DH wash dishes if I'm cooking dinner. I no longer want to waste my time cooking plus washing dishes when we get finished eating. Not happeneing. 

We are either going to remodel, buy another house or move out of state. LOL!!! Need to figure it out.
