Years ago we were on vacation and washed our clothes in the motel laundry room. Dirty clothes were stuffed into a pillow case and carried to the laundry room. A while later I sent my husband back to retrieve the clothes from the dryer. He came back to the room with all of our clean clothes jammed back into that same pillowcase, totally wrinkled.

One of my favorite 'only a guy would do this' moves was one day when I set out to empty the dishwasher. Now, one thing I have done that makes it super easy to know if the dishes are clean or still dirty is put one of those 'Dishwasher Alerts' things on the front.
It is a slider type deal where it says 'dirty' on one end and 'clean' on the other. When I run the dishwasher I slide it over to clean. When I empty the dishwasher I slide it over to 'dirty'.
Easy, right? Fool-proof, right?
Not so much. So, anyway, I start putting away the clean dishes only to discover there were a couple of dirty dishes in there. Drat! Now I don't know what's still clean so it's a bit of a PITA, hoping not to have to run the whole thing again.
I said something later on to him, wondering if he had some problem that caused him to put dirty dishes in there when it was on 'clean'.
Well, it turns out that the problem, according to him, was that it was dark in there and he couldn't see the clean/dirty thing, so he just put them in there.
*head explodes* Who would not just put the dishes in the sink if they weren't sure? Well, most of us for sure. It just made no sense at all to me, like so many things he does.

I always read it to my class on the first day of school and had a discussion about misunderstandings.
LOVE the WHOLE SERIES!! Can't WAIT to get my grandchildren into them!

I read all those books. I remember her being told to draw the curtains. Well, you can imagine @On It

I have to honestly say that my husband has never done that. When I ask him to do something he does it right. If he isn't sure he always asks me.My mom & Mil used to ask me how I got DH to do all those things because their husbands weren't nearly that efficient. The answer is simple. He lived alone through his 20's.He was over 30 when we married. He knew how to tidy a house. When we got married I worked full time until my son was born. So he just continued to do stuff around the house. He still does.He does the dishes every night & vacuums every week etc.

Years ago I was recovering from a surgery and he said he (who never cooks) could make dinner so I gave him explicit directions on how to make a simple spaghetti dinner. Instead of going to the cupboard for a jar of Ragu sauce, he found the French salad dressing I had previously made and had put in an empty Ragu jar in the refrigerator.
When we sat down to eat and it clearly was "off", he got mad that I didn't want to eat his wonderful effort even though he knew he did't want to eat it either! So insulted. We've since called it French Spaghetti; our dinner was take out burgers.
So sometimes the clearest directions still don't take root. I knew the minute I looked at that plate of spaghetti with sauce, the sheen of the deep red did not look right. LOL

That's pretty funny!
Of course I know that there are many men, like my sons for instance, who are excellent in the kitchen and the "head chefs" in their family kitchens... but my DH is not one of them. He is rather skilled at laundry, though putting it away isn't his strong suit.
Your story reminds me of my best friend's husband. She was just home from the hospital with their third child and she asked her husband to make lunches for the older kids. They both came home with uneaten sandwiches. They said, "Daddy doesn't make tuna like you do, Mommy". Well, he explained that he couldn't find mayonnaise so he used Cool Whip. "It was white and fluffy", he said. He thought it was a good substitute.
