This might not relieve your concerns about eating food from a Chinese-owned American-based company such as Smithfield, but we do have federal food regulation standards and federal meat inspectors who are supposed to protect our food supply.

 

If we imported the pork from China, yes, I'd wonder about the quality of the food and the integrity behind its safety.  I suppose our federal inspectors would be on the job at airports and shipping ports to prevent tainted or inferior foods from entering the U.S.--we would hope!

Sometimes the most gross actions come from within.

Pork Industries Self Regulation.

 

Inspectors warn us...this is not a wise move. 
A lawsuit is in place to stop this process. 

Let's take an already dirty process (animal slaughter) and 

speed up the lines & have fewer inspectors.

In addition to the information contained herein have those opposed to eating any food imported from China taken U.S. produced food products using ingredients imported from China into consideration?  Think common ingredients like spices (especially garlic), corn, mushrooms, edamame/soybeans and many, many more.

Where did you find information that those food ingredients are coming from China?

 

The U.S supposedly is one of the top five soybean producers in the world.  And don't we grow a lot of our own mushrooms, garlic, etc?

 

And what happened to the good old American cornfields in the Midwest?

 

I don't know the answers......just asking.

Sorry I was not complaining ..just stating that we have a Smithfield plant in our town and how these jobs are the main job sources in our town in this day and time.
After our hosiery mill went out of business I trained for another job but don't think that some workers could train ahead for jobs that didn't exist back then for certain positions in certain plants that came to our town.
