Look under recipe forum for October recipes and on third page is a sloppy joe recipe. It looks delicious.

Re: OCTOBER 2021 RECIPE GAME 🎃 [ Edited ]

Sloppy Joes (grew up eating these)

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

1 cup celery, chopped

1/2 green pepper, chopped

1 can TOMATO SOUP, undiluted

1 pint (2 cups) chili sauce

seasonings (salt, pepper, etc)

Brown meat in skillet with chopped onion, celery and green pepper.  Drain.  Add seasonings SOUP, and chili sauce.  Simmer 1 hour.

* Add more or less of onion, celery and green pepper as desired....old recipe...nothing exact.  My bottle of chili sauce says 12 ozs...probably enough.

@kare29 sounds good!  Thanks for sharing.  isn't the price crazy?  I had to buy a bottle of A1 steaksauce last week.... good grief.

I just throw a pork roast in the crockpot overnight on low. In the morning I drain off fat and pull meat apart add a onion some bbq sause, cook on low until dinner. Delicious.

@sweetee2 That's new to me.  The only ones I ever had or heard of had ground beef (or maybe turkey now).

@Sooner Wouldn't this be more of a pulled pork sandwich?

Sloppy Joes are one of my favorite things. My mom always made it with ground turkey (she always tried to be healthier in her cooking and said ground turkey was better for us) so that's how I make it.

Also, it has to be sweet. I've seen recipes that don't include brown sugar, and for me that's a pass.

@sweetee2 I quoted the wrong person lol- I meant to quote this, and say that this is more of a pulled pork recipe. It does sound good though!
