@Icegoddess,  I don't think they are interested in our health or waistlines either.  They are interested in sales and for many people calorie count will make the difference between selecting product A and product B.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

I have switched from Mrs Schubert's to Rhodes frozen dough Texas Style rolls in order to get a larger size dinner roll.

@Icegoddess   What a good kitchen hack! I recently bought an adjustable silicone piece to cover pie crusts, but it's not very good.  I'm going to try a tin with the bottom cut out.  Pieces of foil doesn't seem to stay on well either.  (I do want it browned a bit).

@Icegoddess @lynnie61 : I have a pie crust shield that I love. I cut my fingers with the homemade one.IMG_20241129_190031.jpg

Re: Sister Shubert Rolls

[ Edited ]

@lynnie61The regular pie crust aluminum pans also work well, but cover more of the pie itself although they probably stay on a little bit better.  I just perch it on top after it's in the oven.  I like my crusts browned too.  I've never had a problem cutting myself with them.

I used the SS one without the bottom cut out yesterday to cover the rolls after I put thme in the basket to help keep them warm since the grandson wasn't here yet. Probably a bit of overkill since I also use one of those terra cotta things you heat up in the oven in the bottom of the basket.

@Icegoddess  :  Yes, you are correct.  I have been buying Sister Schuberts forever and was disappointed in the "sausage pinwheels" this year.  They did away with the pigs in a blanket and replaced them with these.  Not great.  Also I was able to fit 12 dinner rolls on my baking pan which I have never been able to do before.  The cinammon rolls were great but again smaller.  We eat the pigs in a blanket and cinammon rolls for breakfast each holiday.
