Re: Shopping Multiple Stores For Groceries

I do almost all of my grocery shopping at Wegmans. There is a Whole Foods that much closer to my home and I stop by there when I need something specific from there. I also have a Trader Joe's nearby and I go there rarely.

I do a Target run about once/month for stuff for the house or I pick things up from Amazon. I do not shop that the Walmart as it's farther than the target.

Re: Shopping Multiple Stores For Groceries

This rural area offers Walmart, Kroger, Save-a-Lot, and IGA.

I mainly stick to IGA, and am occasionally drawn into to Kroger for a 10 for $10 sale.

A trip to Sam’s Club takes up nearly 4 hours of my day, so that only happens about 3x a year.

Regardless of where I shop, I always buy extra in order to reduce my shopping trips.   The less time I spend grocery shopping, the happier I am.

I shop where I get the best deals.

Yes, this is Wegmans country and we love it all day long, but you need to know how to shop around here. Wegmans prices CAN often be beat, and they have a pesky habit of discontinuing name brands in favor of their own.

Luckily for us, we have a Wegmans, Tops, and Walmart close to each other, which makes comparison shopping cost effective.

Re: Shopping Multiple Stores For Groceries

I shop mainly at 2 stores for food -- first Aldi and then to Walmart.  I go primarily because of the prices.  I usually find what I need between the 2 of them.  I do occasionally go to Shop 'n Save for little extras because they seem to have a bigger variety of things to choose from.  I also stop occasionally at Target because the cereal which I enjoy is way, way, cheaper and I find other snacks, etc, which are different and cheaper.  Thankfully, all these stores are within minutes of each other so no waste of gasoline really.

I can get everything I want at Publix and WalMart and they are close to each other so I’m not wasting gas. Anything you want that Publix doesn’t carry, just ask at CS and they will get it for you.

I do prefer Publix over Kroger but I still shop Kroger more often than Publix before of price.  I do buy meat at Publix, especially when it comes to a roast or tri-tip (looks and is so much better than Kroger's).  Publix is my area is also better stocked and I find the people who work there much more helpful.

Re: Shopping Multiple Stores For Groceries

I use to scan all the grocery stores sales flyers and write a shopping list out for each one and then go and get it all---OMG what a huge amount of time, engery and gas money it was!!! Ended up spending more anyway---Hate to shop so I order online now. Seems like the sales  are not really sales anymore either. I will stop at the grocery store to buy my produce but I get the other stuff from AMZ Fresh!!!!

Re: Shopping Multiple Stores For Groceries

I'm two miles from the highway with all of the shopping.

There is a very large hometown store which has spread into S.C.  They have good specials and are good on all accounts.  Publix is high and not as busy.  It opened after the owner of the hometown store died.  I heard it was a "gentlemen's agreement" that they wouldn't enter each other's territiry.

Publix is ok.  They put out less pieces if each cut in the meat department and their produce can be very high.  I do go there to get the large bow pretzels I dip in white chocolate for Christmas.

About 2 miles past Publix is Fresh Market.  Wonderful everything, but look what you're getting!  I use their bakery for special items and their seafood.

I also shop Sams but they're 30 minutes away.

I can get my Instant Breakfast there as well as good spices which I keep in the freezer.  Their stew beef has no fat and we love their pesto which is resturant quality since I don't care to make it.  I buy a large jar of aged Parmesian cheese there and keep that frozen too.  Love their cheese cakes.
