Not a fan of scones.  Too dry.

If you're ever in the mood to try to make them yourself, I promise you that these are the most crumbly, tender, moist scones ever..

Best-Ever Scones

2 cups flour

1/3 cup sugar

1 tbsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries or cherries, or 1/2 cup toasted pecans)

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Stir together the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl (I use a 4-qt. bowl).  Cut butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender until crumbly and mixture resembles small peas.  Freeze 5 minutes.  Add 3/4 cup plus 2 tbsp. cream, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.  Mixture will be crumbly.  Fold in chocolate chips.

Turn dough out onto a cutting mat or wax paper; gently press or pat dough into a 7-inch round.  Cut round into 8 wedges with a pizza cutter.  Using a pie server, place wedges 2 inches apart on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.  Brush a very thin layer of the remaining cream onto tops of wedges.  You will not use all the remaining cream.

Bake at 450 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden.

It is probably scone season at the small local coffee shop in your area.  Drop by for one.  Ours has an amazing cranberry orange one.  I'm going in the morning after errands.

QVC food is all fat, sugar and sodium! Awful! It's why so many Americans are overweight/ obese.

You can buy a box of different flavors from King Arthur Baking Company for $9.00 and make them yourself and they're pretty good.

Sure, but King Arthur has NO deals ever. Oh, ok, maybe a $1.00 off, maybe, sometimes.

These are simple to make yourself or buy at a  local store or bakery for a fraction of the cost. The ingrediants and method are not costly. Its not like its a beef wellington or fish or a cheescake even. Its flour sugar, baking powder and cream and fruit sometimes. . Bake ir  or buy locally

Re: Scones——WHAT?!!

@ellaphant QVC did not make Americans obese.

I purchase many food items. Yes, some have sugar and some have salt. We are careful what we eat. If we choose an item to eat we make sure the rest of the day has less sugar or less salt depending on what we eat.

I am in no way considered overweight. I weigh 123 lbs at almost 5'4". I work out 6 days a week. I have yearly check ups with extensive tests every December. My numbers are considered textbook perfect.

We have choices, it's okay to splurge occasionally. This is what we do with the QVC items. Again, I find your comment extremely offensive to myself, as well as QVC customers in general.

What are you so ticked about? And no need for you to post your health and diet info.

Fact:  Q food is processed food loaded w fat, sugar and sodium.

Fact: The vast majority of Americans eat too much processed food loaded

with fat, sugar and sodium.

Fact: A large majority of Americans are quite overweight or obese.

Well, personally I like the occasional treat (fat, sugar, cream...).  I don't feel that I should only eat macrobiotic bricks.

People are obese or overweight because they eat too much of the wrong thing and/or don't move enough.  The term "couch potato"  came into common useage for a reason.  (This, of course, excludes anyone with a true medical condition.)

I don't think QVC can be blamed for the widespread obesity problem in the U.S.  That fault lies with the person who chooses to eat too much of these items and doesn't have a balanced diet.

Well, I'm just off to order some scones!  (Hahn Bakery:  9 for $32, but I have a 20% off coupon!)
