I didn't read all the posts but if I was concerned I would buy the KA from a store.Somewhere I could drive it back and return it.

Speakiing of KA, are the glass or metal bowls better? Once I had metal (SS) mising bowels, probably cheap ones, and they got all scratched up. I think I would like glass but I don't know for sure. Thanks

I don't think those old Sunbeam mixers can hold a candle to what a KitchenAid can do. New or old. Some of the attachments are great too, like the meat grinder. We use it to make fanastic hamburger meat.

In general I prefer mixing food in glass rather than SS or plastic. But when it comes to a KA mixer you have to take the weight of the bowl plus food into account. I think the glass bowls themselves are very heavy. I've used the same SS bowls for years with my mixers and have not noticed excessive scratching. No more than a good SS cooking pan.

Yes! Last Christmas, I had an oil leak. I did some research and apparently , it happens. And is normal. I wasn’t too happy about it.

Thank-you for the response. I'm not worried about the SS anymore based on your response.

I bought my KA from the Q about 15 years ago. The Kitchen Aid Stand Mixers are made in Greenville, Ohio. They also have an awesome store down there that has a whale of a deal sale during Annie Oakley days.
With that said, I went to the Kitchen Aid store a few years ago for an attachment. The associate assured me my mixer was made in America but she did not like the products that were made for QVC. I didn't ask why.

For the longest time, QVC was selling 'Made in US' KA products. But in the last couple of years, or so, that changed. I think it's probably par for the course with stuff like that, that is being sold by the thousands. First it was just the hand mixers, beginning with one TSV a while back, being made in China. Then it expanded to food processors and stand mixers.
But another of the biggest problems to affect the quality of KA products was when they were bought out and started making them with lesser quality. They did get caught up with some problems with some of the plastic parts that replaced the former steel parts. IIRC, they had to go back to making certain components with steel again.
People who have older ones are best served to keep those older models that were made by Hobart, in the US, and with the optimal quality on which KA built their reputation.

That is the mixer I grew up with! My mother had the citrus juicerand meat grinder attachments too. But my Costco Kitchenaid kneads bread and has much more power.

I just saw a text from another customer and that is what she said happened to her. I just got concerned because I don't use mine often.
