I freeze bread items all of the time. What I do is separate each half but leave them together loosely, keep them in their original wrapper and then wrap that whole thing in foil. That helps keep the bread from getting freezer burn and preserve the taste.
@goldensrbest Even the best ones do not seem to freeze well. I put each one in an individual baggie then put them all in a larger one and put in a container to keep them from being squished.
We use our hamburger buns as bread. They fit in the toaster and work well with any meal as a dinner bread. I have not enjoyed my frozen ones, but they are better than nothing. We buy heat and eat frozen hamburger patties from HEB. I will use a frozen one then.
I hear everyone loving frozen bread. It so easy and toasts up nicely. I know I am in the minority but I don't like the taste of frozen or refridgerated bread.
If you don't like to use a you would regular bread, (sandwiches, toasting as crutons or bread crumbs) feed them to the birds. Maybe not the whole package in one day. LOL.
If I did not freeze bread, buns I would be throwing out a lot of bread, which I refuse to do. Usually if allowed to thaw and get the bread to room temp, it's ok.
I have a Food Saver. I freeze my breads, rolls, hot dog & hamburger rolls.
When thawing out, I leave them on my kitchen counter until they are room temp. I never thaw in the fridge. Taste fresh as if I just purchased from the store.
