I've never heard or seen sauerkraut at Thanksgiving.  I'm so interested in the kraut with the cornbread on top...so new to me.  As for the pork in the kraut.....always cook this for New Year's day for good luck in the new year.  No NYEve party complete w/o this served with pork or hot dogs at midnight!  Big W.PA tradition from our German ancestors.

Thanks for the article. I sent it to my other. She loved it. She said she always misses the kraut on T.G.  I think when we were young, we convinced her not to do it. She compromised by putting out red cabbage which my dad loved. My mom promised sauerkraut for next Thanksgiving.
