Can someone at QVC tell me why hosts cut food in half, stack it, and squish the pieces together to crumble the food or draw blood?? Doesn't matter...cake, cookies, steaks, hamburgers. I realize you think it makes the food look moist and delectable.
But, hey, it's mostly disgusting. The product is smeared all over the props and host fingers! If I did that as a child at the dinner table, I would pay dearly and be sent to my room without finishing my meal.
Please drop this disgusting demonstration of otherwise wonderful food!!!
Anyone reading this agree?

@scarfboy My guess is because you can't smell or touch the item on the screen.
They have to sell the product somehow so they SHOW you. Stacking gives the impression of bounty and a better chance at volume of juice squished. You can see it is moist vs dry and crumbly. and filled with whatever it's supposed to be filled with if it is broken open and manipulated for the audience to see.
If it makes a sale for them It's gonna keep happening.

They do it to see the inside of the product, the coloring and they do it to show the texture. Anyone who is disgusted by this, I can't imagine why, I have to wonder why you would watch.

They can show the inside of the product with squishing it - I agree it's disgusting. And silly.

Yeah, I do think it is kind of gross.
I don't normally watch food shows but when I happen to see some of it and see the squishing, I stop watching as soon as I can change it.
I mean one squish is enough
, not over and over and over again! I think people get it already!
I feel the same about rubbing and stretching the clothes-over and over. I think they get in a trance or are doing it for comfort or something! I guess they have to do something while the vendor or the host is talking and can't stop themselves-over and over.

I don't watch people eating or food segments!

There must be something psychological about it...licking fingers? Squishing food?
idk how this could be tantalizing?

I never watch the food shows but what the OP describes does sound unappetizing.

No, I'm not disturbed whatsoever by it.
As noted, it's the been the standard for food presentations for many years to demonstrate different aspects of the item. Seems a reason way to do it for television.
