S.O.S for One (Repost) Made with Ground Beef

Since my hubby doesn't like SOS, I make enough just for me!! SOS aka as Same Old Stuff or S--- on a Shingle. My dad was a Marine and made it all the time when I was growing up. Sometimes he'd fried diced potatoes to serve on the side with a fried egg. Here is the recipe:

SOS for One

4 oz hamburger

1 1/2 Tablespoon of flour

salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste

Onion chopped

1 cup of milk

Couple of drops of Soy sauce for color and flavor

In a saucepan brown the meat with the chopped onion, add the spices and flour. Let it cook a little then add the milk and let it cook until thick. I add a little soy sauce. This is so good on toast with a fried egg on top, just how my dad made it.

Thank you! DH was in the Army and loved SOS. Talks about it at least once a month. LOL! I'm going to print your recipe and give it to him and know he'll love it.

My hubby says "How can you eat that stuff". I say "It's just like hamburger patties and gravy". He still won't eat it. He doesn't know what he's missing.

A cheap, good tasting, filling meal!!!

Re: S.O.S for One (Repost) Made with Ground Beef

Many people know SOS as dried beef that comes in a jar. Some others call sausage gravy SOS and others call hamburger gravy SOS. It is just what you know it by in your family. Anything made with a cream sauce served on toast can be called SOS.
