Forgive me as I did not read all the replies to the thread involving Robert Irvine and Paula Deen, but it reminded me that some years ago it was discovered that Robert Irvine had lied on his resume about his experiences being a chef and now he doesn't seem to have suffered any long term resentments.

this was posted on the other thread and I commented that there sure seems to be a double standard

I remember that too, & I may be wrong, but he did disappear for awhile, along w/ his 1st show. As I recall, not only did he lie on his resume (cooking for a presidents & for royalty), he left A LOT of people in the dust when he walked away from a restaurant he was supposedly opening in FLA. Contractors, decorators, etc., were stiffed, & they didn't see him again until he popped up on the Food Network. My memory can be hazy, so don't quote me.

But eventually RI showed up w/ brand new shows, because the public has a very short memory.

Funny thing about the human psyche, I guess. I used to enjoy his original show. Then he went away. And now I don't enjoy him at all.

I watch him, but there's something about him that I don't like. He may be a chef, but I don't consider him a real chef. He seems a step above a home cook.

OK, my hazy memory was bugging me, so I found an article which talks about the restaurant he was supposedly going to open, but walked away from, owing money. It was actually supposed to be 2 side by side restaurants called "Ooze" & "Schmooze" in St. Petersburg, FLA.

I'm not a fan of his either, but I don't really think that his lying on his resume was anywhere near as serious as the ongoing bigotry practiced by PD and her brother, and the problems that have occurred because of unfair practices on their parts, at the restaurants.

When the R. Irvine scandal came down, he had a show called Dinner Impossible. They DID pull the show and he wasn't seen on FN for a while. He has since returned and has done other shows there.

Perhaps she will return to FN also, or maybe she decided to move on to other endeavors. I'm sure she will be fine, also, as she still has her fan base. I never was a fan, so I don't care either way. But I just think that the comparison of the two is a bit lopsided.

Never could stand him even before the news of his lying came out. He always gave me the creeps.

He always seemed to me like someone who cooked for an institution -- school, army, cafeteria, etc. -- rather than for high-end venues. Just an impression.

That said, despite his Drama King persona, I was OK with him. But these latest Paula-related antics have doused that. He's on the way down.
