Re: Restaurants: BREAKFAST!!

I enjoy breakfast food at all hours. And I can often eat dinner food mid-morning. Guess I eat what strikes my fancy at the time.

I do find that more and more I check a restaurant's menu before going, even if it's a restaurant I've gone to before.

Re: Restaurants: BREAKFAST!!

I don't remember when I last ate breakfast or lunch in a restaurant.  Probably more than 20 years ago.

I only eat dinner out a few times a year usually meeting up with friends.

If I am hungry, I cook at home, but more often than not, I  skip breakfast. I usually skip lunch too, but sometimes will eat a salad or leftovers from the evening before.

Re: Restaurants: BREAKFAST!!

I haven't noticed restaurants around here changing to a larger breakfast menu.

Re: Restaurants: BREAKFAST!!

I went out to lunch yesterday with a friend.  I had a delicious grilled chicken caesar wrap with sweet potato fries and a glass of Pinot Grigiro.  She had a garden salad with a scoop of chicken salad with cranberries and walnuts.

There are a lot of good restaurants in my area that serve a nice lunch.

Most of the places I go to lunch are not open for breakfast. Lunch and dinner menus are similar...but lunch menu might offer smaller portions at less cost.

Where we have our beach home, some places offer limited breakfast items...but again, most places don't open until 11 am.

I don't usually eat my first meal before 11 am and I could eat breakfast items at lunch or dinner time. Food is food.

At 12 pm or 1 pm, I don't want scrambled eggs or waffles.  I can do that at home.

I also don't go out for breakfast.

@ECBG

I cannot make hashbrowns or omelets as good as some restaurants can make. I have a favorite place I go to  occasionally for lunch and I will order their Greek omelet for my noon meal. They also make a terrific quiche and their hamburgers are so good served on brioche buns. Dang, now I am hungry. 😆 🤣

Re: Restaurants: BREAKFAST!!

It depends on the place, where I am.  Diners that are open from the early hours (usually 5:30 or 6:00 a.m.) and close around 1:30 or 2:00, do breakfast for the entire time and lunch pretty much from 11:00 onward.

Restaurants that aren't open for breakfast do lunch and dinner.  There aren't many that do both.

Personally, I love breakfast, but we have a couple of favorite places for lunch or early dinners, too.  Each place we go to has its own appeal for us.  One thing they have in common:  they all do fresh food from scratch.

@ECBG Don't be too hard on breakfast!Woman Wink

A chicken salad sandwich can easily run 400 to 1200 calories, not counting sides.  And salads with lots of ingredients and dressing can be right up there with a biscuit or sausage patty!

And don't even talk about that basket of rolls or crackers!  YIKES!

@Sooner

I would prefer a chicken salad anything to breakfast foods.  I never eat rolls or crackers in a restaurant.

@ECBG I would take the breakfast because eggs and toast are far lower in fat. . . difference strokes for different folks.  I am trying really hard to follow a mind diet routine.  It's worked great for a year--so I'm sort of used to that now and lean toward those foods.

I'm not a breakfast eater so I love it when places have a robust lunch menu during brunch as well.

I would prefer to sit there with a glass of tea than have breakfast.

Re: Restaurants: BREAKFAST!!

When I was young, breakfast in our home always included grits. I had Hawaiian Punch and raisin toast. Once a week we had breakfast for dinner. Mom made waffles with bacon inside, or eggs with bacon, or scrapple if my relatives had visited recently, and toast.

 I still love breakfast! I tried breakfast for dinner with my own family. We didn't do it every week, but my children still talk about it and how much they liked it.

I LOVE breakfast! During the week I eat a light breakfast. But I look forward to Sundays. Most of the time DH and I go to a late brunch (after church and anything else I need to take care of there). I love my omelettes! If we don't go out I come home and make cheese omelettes.

When we eat brunch out we usually don't have much later.

A lot of restaurants around here offer breakfast all day long. We went to Metro diner for dinner one night. DH had dinner, and I had a western omelette.  Smiley Happy
