I like my crockpot.  Name brand Crockpot.  Nothing fancy, not digital.  A dial on the front for high, low, simmer.  No fuss and works for me.  I have an Instant Pot several years now, have not used it.  Tried selling it in garage sale, no one wanted it.

Me too.  Crockpot.  Mine is digital, but it's "simple digital": choose the length of time, and Hi or Lo.  That's it.  It switches to "warm" on it's own when it's done. I have thought of changing to one of those new "does everything" pots, but I think I'd only really use the slow cooker feature.

For the amount of times I use it (maybe a half dozen times in the cooler months), it's the right choice for me.

I have also used it on holiday buffets to keep soup warm and also to mull cider.

I have the same Crockpot as @faeriemoon

I use it a lot all year long as I make soups, stews, chili and marinara sauce in it. Easy to clean. Easy to use.

Re: Recommendation for slow cooker

For the 2 of us, we have a Hamilton Beach, oval, 3 1/2 or 4 qt with a dial setting on the front. I got it on Amazon for a very decent price....nothing fancy but it works great. For 2 people I wouldn't recommend a large (7 or 8 qt) unless you plan on cooking a lot of food! I love the oval shape in a medium size for soups, chili, chicken breasts, pork tenderloins, etc, and always use a Reynolds Slow Cooker Liner....they are invaluable for easy clean-up! My previous slow cooker was Crock Pot and it lasted for years - worked great too.

Re: Recommendation for slow cooker

We have a small Crockpot of maybe 3-4 quarts that is sufficient.

I've heard it suggested that it's best to buy a slow-cooker with a ceramic interior because it better embraces the food with heat than a cooker with a stainless steel interior that may be just heated on the bottom. The stainless steel/heated on the bottom is why the Instant Pots' slow-cooking feature is disappointing.

Re: Recommendation for slow cooker

Love, love LOVE my Crockpot! ♥

It's a basic Hamilton Beach brand, but I've also owned the Rival brand - Both with just knobs for High/Low/and Warm settings.

I use it every Sunday morning - I'll toss a Roast or a Brisket, or some Chicken Thighs and Drumsticks or a Turkey Breast in it...

I add Onions, Celery, Carrots, Mushrooms, Garlic and a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup (because I love mushrooms), along with a pkg. of Gravy Mix (Chicken or Brown gravy)

The soup and the gravy mix make a delicious "sauce" that goes beautifully over mashed potatoes or noodles, or rice.

I get it started around 7:00 AM, and by the time we get back from Church, it's done - It only take a few minutes to make the Mashed Potatoes, Noodles or Rice to go with.

Oh, and most important: Use the Reynolds Crockpot Liners for easy-peazy cleanup. Woman Wink

[ Edited ]

Do you like to cook?  I have some websites that are reduced recipes for 1 or 2.

I buy some of YELLOH's (big yellow truck) dinners and like them very much.  I am not a "crock pot" fan.  Have you ever looked at the sodium in a can of soup or the soup envelopes?

I have a toaster oven and I bake a lot of my meals.

Yes, the slow cook feature doesn't work well on the Instant Pot.  I still like my IP.
