Recent Lock and Lock TSV review

I ordered several sets of the recent Lock and Lock TSV, one to keep, one for my mom, and some to split up and give as gifts.

I really wish the company would get a handle on the leaking of their bowls. They are flat out lying about them being air tight and water tight.

I have ordered at least 4 different style of L&L bowls this past year, and every set has had to go back, because ALL the bowls in every set leak. I fill them about one third full of water, lock on the lid, tip on their side and shake. Some just drip a little (and no, there is no water on the outside, I'm very careful to be sure it is coming from inside) but most gush water out, especially in the lock areas. I have spent hours removing the seals, washing it hot water, trying to "break them in", all to no avail.

Most of my L&L's are older, with the thick blue seals. These new seals are so much smaller and thinner, and aren't doing the job. I have to say that I don't have or haven't tried any newer square or rectangular pieces, so maybe it is the round pieces that the seals just don't work, but it is very frustrating.

As for the TSV, I will be keeping one set, but other will be going back. I can give cookies and candy in them, but they are useless for liquids. so I don't need so many defective sets.

The bags are nice quality, very wide, but slightly shorter than I thought they'd be. You can easily fit two of the bows stacked on top of each other in each bag, if you wanted to give a little more. The bowls are a nice usable size, and the lids are very pretty. I think the TSV was a great deal, but not because of the quality of the seals on the bowls.

Re: Recent Lock and Lock TSV review

Well, this is a timely post! I started a thread recently because my round bowl with the handled lid leaked all over my car trunk this weekend. I carry lots of food. I put a great deal of effort into packing it in the appropriate containers. I thought my L&L was a no brainer, but I've learned that's not true. They shouldn't be advertising it as leak proof.

I did see your earlier post, and my heart went out to you. It was probably a big mess to clean up, not to mention food is so expensive, wasting even a drop can be costly!

I'm a long time L&L user and lover. I have so many pieces and don't know what I'd do without them. I'm just so frustrated that this line has been cheapened like everything else we buy today. I'd gladly pay more for a product that actually works as advertised.

I really love the vendor, Chris, as well, but I don't like it when people are less than honest. They used to shake a container of spaghetti sauce over the host's head, but I haven't seen them do that in a very long time. I don't think it would be advisable with the round containers!

I like L & L also, but the quality has really gone down. I don't need a leaking L & L bowl.

I immediately return mine as defective and tell them why. Getting many, many defective returns has got to be a 'red flag' to them.

They break easily too.

The only ones of my older sets that have broken are all my fault. Frozen plastic meets concrete floor equals cracks and breakage! I have noticed that the locking mechanisms on the new ones aren't nearly as thick or strong as before either.

Re: Recent Lock and Lock TSV review

I ordered two sets of the TSV, and after reading the original post, I had to check. None of the 12 bowls leaked. I then checked the 8 containers I bought during Christmas in July, amd there were no leaks.

I do not have a huge cache of LnL, but if the roughly 15 containers I have (in addition to the holiday containers), I have never had any issues.

i ordered two sets also.....wish i had bought 3! very cute idea, no leaks or problems with these at all for me. they are some of the best containers i have. i think they keep things fresher and pick up new items every so often. i use them in the microwave, put them in the dishwasher, and freeze in them with no problems. the only problem i have had is with two pieces.....they dropped on the floor and one of the tabs broke off.

I don't recall ever having this problem in all of the years I've purchased L&L - and I've bought it at my grocery store and Walmart as well as at QVC. I can just imagine the mess you had to clean up! You could try the Food Network sets from Kohl's or any type of Snapware - I like them both very much.

Re: Recent Lock and Lock TSV review

I read that Lock and Lock as a company was sold years ago. It could very well be that another company picked up the product line and the quality is not of the original company. This happened to Philosophy. That company was sold to Coty Prestige and it has not been the same. The fragrances are ""off"" and the quality is poor.
