Radio Question: What Time Is Your Thanksgiving Dinner?

My energy hits me in the late afternoon.  I never liked a big meal in the middle of the day and growing up noticed that in the late evening, others were searching for "something" like a sandwich.

I have cheese and crackers out and we eat about 6pm.  since I have the biggest turkey I can find and it takes a while. Others have a leisurely day off and have time to get here without rushing.

Also, you aren't famished the next morning.

Pretty much the same for me. I always serve the Thanksgiving meal in the evening. That's just what has always worked for me. But as I was growing up, whether at our home or at my aunt's house, the meal was always served at lunch time. No matter what time it hits the table, I hope everyone enjoys!!!!!

Late afternoon usually.  As a child, my family did the late afternoon dinner - and like you said, people were hungry later!!

Ideally between 2 and 3 in the afternoon.  All my family members look forward to a mid evening turkey and dressing sandwich so a late dinner doesn't work for us.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Our meal is midday. That could range from noon to 2:00. We both grew up in a rural area where the largest meal is served at midday. Our parents and grandparents followed this tradition, so we stayed with it even though we have an urban life.

I prefer mid to late afternoon so that we don't go to bed feeling like stuffed pigs. This year, friends and family will be getting together on FaceTime. Since there are people on both coasts, we agreed that eating together would be a bit much. We'll be meeting around 3 Eastern time, spend an hour or so together, and then we east coast folks will eat dinner around 4 or 4:30.

NOON!  I would hate to think about facing the cleanup at night.  After all that food and especially turkey!

When family was around we always ate at noon and they went home for a long nap.  Then it was fun at night because either we took plates to them or they came up and we put out leftovers and it was a free for all.    That was a fun and relaxed time.
