I thought Marybeth handled it all beautifully! I do like rachels silicone pot covers they really do provide suction to the pot as she said. Rachel used to be great at the travel shows she did, now she is overbearing, a workaholic though.

Well that is the part I watched and was going to order. Then, she started presenting the pans and her voice was getting raspier and she was getting more hyper and interrupting so I reached for the remote and turned the TV OFF telling myself I could get along just fine without those lid covers just as I have for so many years. Then I thought if I really wanted them I could look elsewhere and compare prices and if QVC was the only place to get them at the best price and I still was interested I would go ahead and order.

I find myself doing this nowdays with everything I see presented that I have any interest in and those are very few and far between.

That is undeniable, and therefore I assume you would have posted the exact same thing if she had uttered a criticism of the law (I don't know why you used scare quotes; it is indeed a law).

So either she decided it was worth it to her to express her feelings about her brother's situation, or she is not very savvy when it comes to business. Either way, it has given me yet more insight into what riles some people up.

Some are just fine with egregious, mouth-breathing rants from the likes of Ted Nugent, eager to forgive and move on from racial slurs occasionally slipping out of someone's mouth, and quick to label any who ARE offended as being overly PC.

Yet a woman gets emotional about her brother's health care situation, and oh, my, so many are vociferously bent out of shape.

Yes I would have posted the same thing, RR is shilling cookware, not political insight. As for Mr. Nugent I don't know what he has to do with the topic at hand. I'll add I'm not bent of shape, just another reason not to buy imo.

I believe that she made her comment on her own show. And since I didn't hear it myself, I don't know the context.

If you choose not to buy from her because of what she said, that's your prerogative. And again, I will then conclude that if she had criticized the law, you would have made the same decision.

If so, then you are the rare one. I don't believe for a moment that most of the one-post posters here are in that same category.

I did see it - the VPOTUS was on her show (not in person, on the studio screen), talking about the deadline for ACA. Rachael was talking about her brother, and I didn't hear the beginning, but at the point I saw her she was obviously trying to hold back tears. So this was on her own talk show, Not on QVC....

BTW, couldn't find that note....

She is just not my favorite. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I find her to be annoying. I know I'm in the minority here.

I don't think you're in the minority at all. Plenty of people have posted in the past about finding her annoying, loud, etc.

Some like her, and some don't. (I used to like her - a long time ago before she had her current show - but now I find her unwatchable for various reasons, but mostly because I just can't handle her constant shouting.) Kiss

She is used to having her own show and being the only one talking. I imagine it would be difficult to step back and let someone else take over.

Also, for those who complain about her raspy voice...I read that she had throat surgery a few years ago. Maybe the rasp is a result of that surgery and there's nothing she can do about it. What's she supposed to do? Hold up signs? Use sign language?

It's not difficult for a professional. Plenty of people who have their own shows are very good at stepping back, and most of them (at least those I have spoken to) actually welcome being a guest rather than host, and like having a change from their usual role.

She has an overbearing personality. That's why she shouts as though we won't hear her if she speaks at normal volume and that's why she interrupts. She wants to be steering the ship all the time. She could step back a bit if she wanted to, but clearly she doesn't want to. And I think it's that attribute that some people find off-putting. Kiss

She has become rude and obnoxious and I cannot watch her. She was a nobody, not even a professional chef until oprah backed her. Now she has this big ego and needs an attitude adjustment. I don't watch her shows anymore so I don't know anything about her brother being ill and needing health care. I feel bad if he is seriously ill, but isn't his sister a billionaire?

Rachael Ray was not a nobody before Oprah offered the daytime talk show--she had signed her first contract with the Food Network in 2001 and appeared on that Network for 4 years before the Oprah contract. She had also already written 10 - again that's 10 - cookbooks before Oprah. I don't think that qualifies as being a "nobody".... She has been nominated for 11 Emmys and won 3 (8 nominations for her talk show and 3 for 30-Minute Meals). Her talk show has lasted for 9 years and she constantly does appearances on other TV shows as well as other Food Network shows. Oprah may have cut the deal for the talk show, but Rachael is the one who has made it the success it is. She is the one who has worked so hard and become a very successful woman. So I don't think she is going to be concerned about those on these forums who "can't stand her", "can't watch her", "she's overbearing", and "don't like her political persuasion"........And just because she has money, that doesn't mean her brother doesn't deserve to be able to get health insurance--none of us know what she did to help him until he could get it..........serious health conditions can run into the millions of dollars - those of you who are lucky enough to have good health coverage should thank your lucky stars!

In July 2008, Rachael Ray Nutrish pet food was introduced. The dog foods are created from recipes that Ray developed for herpit bull, Isaboo. All proceeds from the sale of these products go to Rachael's Rescue, a charity founded by Ray to help at-risk animals.[24]

I FOR ONE HOPE THIS WOMAN IS PROUD OF WHO SHE IS AND WHAT SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED.......

Rachael Ray was born inGlens Falls, New York.[2][3]Her parents are James Ray, who is ofFrench,ScottishandWelshdescent and Elsa Scuderi, aSicilian American.[4]She moved toCape Cod, Massachusetts where her family owned four restaurants. When Ray was 8, her family moved toLake George, New York. Her mother managed restaurants inupstate New York.[2]

In 1995, Ray moved to New York City.[5]One of her first jobs there was at the candy counter atMacy's, where she eventually managed the fresh foods department. She later helped open a New York City market. Moving back to upstate New York, Ray managed Mister Brown's Pub atThe Sagamore, a hotel on Lake George. From there, she became a buyer at Cowan & Lobel, a gourmet market inAlbany. Ray credits the concept of30 Minute Mealsto her experience working at the store, where she met people who were reluctant to cook. She taught a course in which she showed how to make meals in less than thirty minutes. With the success of her "30 Minute Meals" classes,WRGB(the localCBSTV affiliate) asked her to appear in a weekly segment on their newscasts. This, along with a public radio appearance and the publication of her first book, led to aTodayshow spot and her first Food Network contract in 2001.

In 2005, Ray signed a deal withOprah WinfreyandKing World Productionsto host asyndicateddaytime TVtalk show.[11]The show,Rachael Ray, premiered on September 18, 2006. Recurrent appearances onThe Oprah Winfrey Showwere used to fuel the launch, much asDr. Phil'sshow wasspun offbased on his own frequent visits toOprah.[12]The show tapes in New York City. In coordination with the syndication announcement, Ray said, "People know me for my love of food, but I have so much more I want to share."

Ray has appeared onThe View,The Today Show,The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, theLate Show with David Letterman,Nightline,Late Night with Conan O'Brien,Larry King Live,Cake Boss,The Late Late Show with Craig FergusonandThe Dr. Oz Show. ForSesame Street’s 38th season, Ray appeared in an episode to present "pumpernickel" asthe word of the day. On January 12, 2008, Ray's television seriesRachael's Vacationpremiered on the Food Network.[13]The show is a five-part food travelogue shot in various European countries.[14]
