I've never tried one but it looks kind of awkward to me. Too much fabric too close to the fire, I have a gas stove.

I wish she had a better variety of colors, the colors just clash with my kitchen. I would like to give them a try.

My grandmother (from Abruzzi) used to call her kitchen towls ""moppines"" too.

But my uncle's family was from Sicily and he never had heard of the word.

Anyone know the origin?

I guess you've never removed a pot from the stove before turning off the stove...

...or moved a pot from one burner to another to make room for something else

I agree..to much fabric to be used on gas.

They look totally awkward to me. I wouldn't use them. But then, I would never use a towel either to remove anything.
