Rachael Ray Bubble & Brown Oven Safe to 500?

I purchased the oval 7 pc set a few years ago when it was offered as a TSV. I've used it countless times without a hitch and it's really served me well. I recently used the open oval baker in a 450 degree oven for the first time at that temp. To my horror the piece cracked - and I mean totally CRACKED - like an egg. I was stunned AND FURIOUS because this stoneware is supposed to be oven safe to 500 degrees. They say it REPEATEDLY in every single presentation of any of the bubble & brown items. It wasn't even close to the burner as with broiling. I've never had this happen and I can only attribute it to the higher temp. So now I'm trying to find a replacement for this piece in chocolate (next to impossible and certainly not at the TSV pricing). Has anyone else had any issues with this stoneware cracking at higher temps? I still swear by it but I'll never use it above 400 degrees again.
