Quality Gal, What do you mean by decorating your air-fryer ??
‎01-11-2018 12:56 PM
I just started using my air fryer --love it, so far. We've done coconut shrimp, sweet potato fries, Arby's seasoned curly fries, chicken wings, hamburgers, and yesterday I made 6 hard boiled eggs. I cooked them at 300 degrees for 15 min., put them in ice water for 15 min., and they were perfect. We know we need to get a larger one.

Never tried hard boiled eggs in one.

I think she was just being funny, trying to find a use for it.

That's my dilemma also. And I don't want to buy something that ends up taking up space in a closet like some other small appliances.

I see some new people posting about air fryers and thought maybe I can help.
I am older, single so I cook for myself. At times I eat grown up food and at other times I eat out of the freezer.
I love my air fryer. My first purchase was a first generation 2.3 qt. from Evine (Cook's Companion). Worked great but I realized that now that I know I like the technology, I would also like a larger capacity so I can air fry a turkey breast for Thanksgiving.
That being said, I purchased the largest one offered by Paula Deen and it is the bomb. Cooks beautifully (not only frozen foods but also makes delicious air fried chicken and pork chops). Clean up is a breeze.
With all new technologies there is a learning curve so you have to keep that in mind in case something didn't turn out as you expected.
The bottom line is I am not a great cook but I am more than pleased with what comes out my air fryer. If you are a great cook this may not be for you unless you are looking to make some quick fries/nuggets for the widdles. If you are looking for some delicious, quick meals, this may be something to explore but as always keep in mind your expectations. For some, this can be an almost total replacement of their oven. For others, you get some nice snacks really fast.
In terms of which one to buy, I know Philips is top gun in the field but they are expensive. I believe the rest are probably manufactured by the same company so keep a close a eye on the manufacturer warranty and also if an extended warranty is available as you are generating a lot of heat in a very small space so it's not unreasonable for them not to make the entire warranty period.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any more questions as I would be more than happy to help!

I just read your post and I have to say that every time, when it comes to cooking, and a "learning curve", I usually strike out. I got one of those instant pot pressure cookers last Christmas and everyone seems to love those things. Mine is in a closet. I failed the learning curve test. lol I am going to give it another try when the weather is cooler and I'm in the mood for soup of some kind but me, a good cook? No, don't think so. So maybe an air fryer is for me. My bf has one and loves it so I just keep on thinking about one. I've checked the sizes of them and I know I don't have room in my cupboards to store one so it would have to sit on a counter. (I wonder if most people end up doing that with them just because of the size.)
