Re: Question about chili

[ Edited ]

I have a big pot for chili, spaghetti sauce, and homemade vegetable soup.  I have microwave safe freezer containers

which are a pleasure to have on hand; it's going to cook the same amount of time, how often do you want to repeat all of that work?

Beef stew gets big onion wedges, fresh mushrooms, red wine, and beef broth.

I make mine in the oven in a cast iron dutch oven.

You would need to brown the meat on the stovetop first- Then I guess it's possible to add all the other ingredients and bake it- Not my preferred method either but they are selling oven bakeware! 🤣

We make on stovetop or crock pot.  Maybe they heat it up the next day in oven.

Crockpot or stove top for me too when making chili. I've never been fond of stoneware for baking. It's pretty and I know it sells well. Just not my thing.

We have always made our chili on the stovetop. I doubt the Temp rations rep makes it in the oven. Just for demonstration of whatever pot they are selling.

If I am making chili for 20+ people I will cook it in the oven in large serving pans (with sterno).  Turns out delicious!!!

Well, so much for Tara and her Mom's plan to use only one dish.Smiley Happy As pointed out one cannot cook on stove top with stoneware. Probably just warmed and melted cheese in oven.

I have always cooked chilli on stovetop, unless I forget to cook a couple of hours before dining , then I use instant pot or pressure cooker and ready in about half of the time. Most newer models you can brown in the pot . I do not notice much difference in the taste.

It is definitley chilli weather where I am.

I've always made it on the stove.
