Re: Question about Publix Stores

He doesn't know what he is talking about. Lakeland, FL is the home of Publix. Google it to find out anything you want to know.

Re: Question about Publix Stores

Seniors - the main population of Florida love Publix because they tend to be smaller stores - less walking - and they are willing to pay a little more for that. I am not so I used to shop Sweetbay who have now been taken over by Winn Dixie. Many of the younger, healthier retirees and still working population go to walmart but I don't like the crowded Walmart store in my town and infrequently go there. I am just hoping they keep the Winn Dixie open as we get 10cents a gallon off on gas for every $50 we buy in food.

Re: Question about Publix Stores

Q2girl, he must have been confused. Publix is good - inside & out. Has an excellant reputation. It is always considered a great thing when someone gets a job with Publix, too. They are good to their employees.

He's from Atlanta and knows them very well, according to him.

He is wrong. Suspect everything he says in the future.

Re: Question about Publix Stores

A few Publix stores in my area were some of the oldest, they closed temporarily for remodeling. The stores are much larger and more modern now!

Re: Question about Publix Stores

We lived in Central Florida for 11 years. We loved Publix Supermarkets. Can't remember a store closing in all the years we lived there. The stores that I do remember closing were the Goodings Supermarket chain. Wish there was a Publix here in New England.

Re: Question about Publix Stores

I live in the Jacksonville area and have never seen a Publix close. IMO, they are very good grocery stores, with great Buy One/Get one Free items every week. Publix are very popular here in Florida. And as another poster said, sometimes they are a bit higher, but I find the quality of their meats & produce, their many choices of any given product, helpful employees and clean & well lit stores to more than make up for the higher prices. Shopping at Publix makes grocery shopping a pleasure for me!
