Re: QUESTION---opinions on smooth top cook services

@Fressa  Easy to clean the surface.  Don't have to lift anything or move anything.  Just wait until it cools off and go.

That said, if I had a choice (we don't), I'd do a gas stove.  ALL electric cooktops fail to keep even heat especially on high heat settings (which I need for WOK cooking).  Gas is a much better provider of continuous/even cooking temperature.

Re: QUESTION---opinions on smooth top cook services

I have had a black, GE profile smooth top cooktop for 20 years. about 8 years ago, I dropped a heavy glass mug on the edge of it and broke it. It didn't effect the heating element but I went on and replaced it anyway. Afterwards I found out GE would have replaced it free!
I clean mine with Ceramabrite from Home Depot. It works better than anything else I have tried. I use whatever cookware I want. I do have two LeCruset pots and am careful not to drag them on the surface due to their weight. otherwise, no special concerns about cookware.
