QUESTION ABOUT S'IP BY S'WELL BOTTLES

HI! I have a question about the s'ip bottles. I was given one as a gift and really like it. It keeps my coffee hot all day while I'm at school. However, I need some ideas on how to clean it. I've rinsed it out well with hot, soapy water. I've even soaked it overnight. Neither method got rid of the coffee smell. When I checked it, the coffee smell was gone from the bottle itself, but remained on the rubber ring. I've tried soaking it overnight in a mixture of baking soda and water. That didn't help either. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how did you get the coffee smell out of that little ring?

Thanks in advance! Smiley Wink

@Bandwife23 ~ in a small glass bowl with warm water add baking soda, a couple drops of dish liquid and a good splash of white vinegar.  Let the cap soak overnight, this combo will also keep the thermos part clean and odorless.  This is what I use for my Camelback hot/cold cup and lid which also has a seal.  Leaves it clean with no coffee odorSmiley Happy

Re: QUESTION ABOUT S'IP BY S'WELL BOTTLES

I found this:

S'well bottles are simply cleaned with a mixture of hot water and soap. We recommend rinsing your bottle after every use and to always dry and store yourS'well with the top off. Avoid submerging your bottle and cap in water for long periods of time as this will interfere with the vacuum seal.

Re: QUESTION ABOUT S'IP BY S'WELL BOTTLES

Thanks for the replies. I contacted the customer service dept. for S'well and they are going to send me a replacement o-ring. So....I'm guessing its possible that once a smell is embedded in the ring, it may not be able to come out. Smiley Sad I'm glad they are sending a replacement though bcecaue I really like my bottle! Customer service was really friendly too!

Re: QUESTION ABOUT S'IP BY S'WELL BOTTLES

Try washing in vinegar. Vinegar should remove the smell from the ring, or now that you have one coffee stained ring, use that one with your coffee and the new one with other drink.
