Pyrex measuring cup shatters

Just wanted to let others know about my experience yesterday with a NEW 16 oz. pyrex measuring cup. I had used it twice yesterday . I washed it in warm water and was rinsing it when it broke into a significant amount of small pieces while I was holding it under the water. It just shattered. Needless to say I spent 2 hours in the emergency room with small lacerations and some large ones that needed sutures. Certainly ruined my Thanksgiving supper as it occurred in the morning. I have one thumb and two fingers with big bandages.

I am very blessed that I didn't receive more severe lacerations. I have used Pyrex for 40 years and never had this happen. I am just writing this as a warning for others. Maybe the glass was defective, but now I am leary of using anything but plastic meauring cups now.

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! I enjoy reading the different forums and I have only written 8 posts. Just wanted others to be careful with glass objects when washing and rinsing them. xoxo
