After I saw "imported" I checked out the KitchenAid website.  There is a nice store in Greenville, OH that I have been to numerous times.  Some of the mixers there state "Proudly made in Greenville, OH".  I think their hand mixers are made in USA.

I am interested in the TSV as an engagement gift for my son and future daughter-in-law. I was reading all of your responses on this thread and was concerned about what imported meant and where that would be coming from. I called up KitchenAid this morning and spoke with their customer service, and they stated that all of their stand mixers are made in Greenville Ohio.  Customer Servive stated none of them were made in China.

The CSR on the phone might not be aware that KA is making SOME of them in China, such as the ones made for TSVs for QVC.

In the last couple of years they started making some of them in China for QVC sales.  Before QVC changed the notation as to exactly where products are made the hand mixers they were selling showed that they ewre from China.  Then the food processors.   Now, I guess they are importing stand mixers from China for their TSV.

In my earlier life, I typically made dozens of batches of cookies, usually doubling the recipe.  The only mixer I ever had was a little GE hand mixer that I got as a wedding present.  It's still in use.  Buy a big space-hog mixer if you wish, but you don't really need one.

LOL, Kachina, YOU don't need one, but since we can't go out and buy a wonderful, decades old, vintage hand-mixer like you have, some  of us DO need one!

I too too have the pro600 bowl lift model and well, since I don't drink coffee, that "space hog" sits where my coffee maker would, I suppose...

I don't really need central air or flush toilets, I guess, people lived full lives without them...

But, call me madcap, I prefer these modern conveniences....I don't have to NEED something to own it...

Thank you @chickenbutt for your input.  I just called KitchenAid again and spoke with another service customer rep who again assured me that all of their stand mixers are made in Greenville, Ohio no matter where we purchase them or if they're specifically made for a TSV. He asked me for the item number and actually went on to QVC's website to see the preview of the TSV for tomorrow and was shocked to see that it said at the bottom of the specifications, imported

He said the box should come with a sticker that says made in the USA and on the bottom of the mixer there will be an etching stating that it was either made in the USA or in Greenville, Ohio.  I'll be looking for that etching as soon as I receive the KitchenAid. Thank you and I hope this helps someone else who may have concerns like I did.

@Q4u -  I have a bowl lift mixer that's about 30 years old.  I don't bake or cook enough to justify another one, but when I do use it, I'm glad for the power.  So, are you going to share that wonderful cookie recipe with us???

Hi That's Life!  Smiley Happy    I sincerely hope he's right.   I am concerned because they started making the hand mixers and food processors, for QVC anyway, in China and it just looked like this was the natural progression (or should we say regression?  hehe).

Anyway, fingers crossed!

I'll report back once it arrives, I hope he is right.  If anyone purchased one from QVC, maybe they could look on the bottom of their mixer and see where it was made?

Re: Preview of KitchenAid TSV on 03/09

AFAIK, this is the first 'stand mixer' from KA that has not shown 'Made in the USA' here.     I'm really hoping that the graphic is wrong but I feel like I will be surprised if it is (still - fingers crossed!).

In all my 55 years of cooking I've actually never needed a stand mixer so I have never purchased one.   If it were before Hobart sold them to another manufacturer, and I suddenly needed/wanted one, I would have purchased KA.  At this point, however, I would go with another brand such as Hobart, Viking, or a few others out there.

It seems like problems started right after they were sold by Hobart.  They started using some plastic pieces where there used to be metal pieces, etc.  Now this - IF they are making the QVC ones in China this time.

I think, because of the problems of some of the plastic pieces, however, I read that they went back to making some of those pieces of metal.  Hopefully, that brought back some of the quality.  The thing with this company is that they are still riding on the excellent reputation they had for all those years when they were made by Hobart.   I hate to see when a company changes and quality begins to decline and corner are cut.  (that's not a hit on KA - just a general statement.  I've seen it with all kinds of different products, especially here)

Interesting...the Q just had a KA stand mixer as a TSV last December, and now another one?

I wonder if you can purchase the recipe book separately?  I'd like to get that.

If you ever get a chance to go to the Kitchen Aid Experience store in Greenville take it.  I love going there. The customer service is awesome.  We had a friend who retired from Whirlpool and he sent us an invitation to Whirlpool's friends and family program.  Since Kitchen Aid is affiliated with Whirlpool I could have purchased some great stuff when we got our new appliances last fall.
