@El from NJ.  Same thing.  Instant Pot is just a brand name.

@El from NJ  Fix the spelling on your title, and you won't have people inquiring about a "cooler."

That being said, the Instant Pot is a great appliance. Highly recommended!

I think the biggest difference is that the instant pot is a set it and forget it. The pressure cooker needs some attention, though I have not used mine for several years.

@El from NJ - The primary difference between a pressure cooker and an Instant Pot is that the Instant Pot is actually a "multicooker," which means it is a pressure cooker that offers additional functions such as sauteing, steaming, and slow cooking. Some models even have special features for air frying. Many people purchase Instant Pots to take advantage of all these options in a single appliance that is very user friendly.

One other detail that might be noteworthy for you is that any type of modern electric pressure cooker (whether a multicooker or just a pressure cooker) is often much more reliable, simple, and safe to use when compared to a traditional stovetop pressure cooker—the advances in technology really make a difference in usage and results.

@El from NJ if you do any canning, there have been warnings that the electric pressure cookers do not get to the higher pressure needed for that although people do it.  I don't think I would trust it though.  I really only use my little electric one for hard boiled eggs for Deviled eggs though.  I won't use a standard one; they scare me.  It's not my style of cooking anyways.

@Icegoddess

I've had 2 electric pressure cookers and both clearly state they are NOT pressure canners.

Re: Pressure cooler

[ Edited ]

I have the original QVC Cook's Essential OVAL Electric Pressure cooker that was a TSV a hundred years ago. Lol  This (cherry red color) bad boy is still going like a champ!  I love using it as opposed to the Instant Pot, which often gives a 'burn notice'.  I Never have that with this pressure cooker!

 As a matter of fact,  I'm using it as I type this post.  I'm making pulled pork in it and it's the best pulled pork you've ever tasted!

p.s.  My pressure cooker also has multi functions like browning, etc.
