Pressure cooker and electric stove

I have a Kuhn Rikon  pressure cooker and an electric stove. It takes a little bit of work to regulate the temperature of the stove. I am thinking about purchasing an induction burner to use with the pressure cooker.  Do you think this is necessary?

TIA

Re: Pressure cooker and electric stove

I am not an expert on stove top pressure cookers (mine is electric) but I have and love an induction burner as you can control the temperature precisely.

The only thing I can personally recommend is that you test the bottom of your pressure cooker by using a magnet.  If it sticks to the bottom of the pot you can use it on an induction burner.

Hope that helps.

I've used a stove top pressure cooker for years and actually prefer it, but I think mine is cast aluminum so it wouldn't work on the induction burner.  I've heard you can buy a plate to put under the pot so it will work on induction But I've never seen such a thing for sale.  Anyone else?

I searched on Amazon under "induction burner plate" and found one gadget for $30+ that will allow you to cook on induction using non-steel pots.

Kachina, I do actually have one of those plates but I find it takes quite a bit of time to heat up but it does work on pots I already own that are not induction ready.

I guess I got so spoiled with how quickly induction cooks that plate just totally slows me down . . . Smiley Happy

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I ordered a Duxtop induction burner from Amazon.   Now I need to find some cookware that goes with it.

Blubird, I think you will enjoy induction cooking.  If you are used to electric, you will be amazed at how fast your food will start to cook and how precise the temperature control is.  Enjoy!

Re: Pressure cooker and electric stove

I got an induction burner over a year ago and haven't used my stove a single time since.  I don't do much cooking.  I was watching Q late one night and they had a clearance on a set of cookware for induction for $50.  It has worked well for me plus I've gotten a couple pieces from Evine where they seem to have quite a bit of it.
