I got mine 4 days after ordering it from QVC. I love it so far. I grilled pork chops and then I switched to slow cooker and added sauerkraut and hotdogs and cooked it 4 hrs and it was fantastic. Could not be easier.

I do think that information should be somewhere in the manual. Most of what I read says to put the food in and then turn it on. Since some presets have a preheat it sure would be nice to know how long it is. I have not timed it but it is much longer than 3 minutes. The grill part is supposed to get to 500 degrees. And that preset is for 30 minutes - plus the preheat. I think a steak - for me - would be like shoe leather.

I guess I expect much more from the company and QVC. I have to wonder why they removed the item from the website.

@BornToShop not trying to discourage you from this machine. I have no idea about it. But, if you do decide to go with the Ninja Foodi Grill, if it is just your sister (as opposed to your sister and a family of 3 or 4), I would recommend the Ninja 5-in-1 grill over the 6-in-1 XL. The XL has a larger cooking surface, so you can grill more meat on it, but it is shallower. This becomes a problem if you want to grill, say, a spatchcocked chicken, or even roasting a whole chicken. Also, the heating element is smaller than the one in the 5-in-1. The air fryer capacity for both is 4 Qt which is a bit larger than my Ming Tsai air fryer which is plenty for me and my husband. Of course, there's nothing keeping you from air frying without the air fryer baske, in which case, the capacity would be more. The only added function for the XL is a broil function. Since all the heat comes from the top of both machines, I'm not sure how that works unless it cuts the fan off.

I got mine on an Amazon 1-day sale, and since the XL just recently came out I would expect good prices on the 5-in-1 between now and Christmas since it is now the older model. I know Costco has it on sale right now for, I think, $169 or just recently did.

I agree that the manual leaves a lot to be desired and there is a dearth of information on the website.

For the grill to preheat to 500 degrees you have to change the preset. I did not understand the 30 minutes or the 375 preset, made no sense and agree that a steak grilled that long would be like shoe leather.

With the lack of good information in the manual I substituted a combination of cooking experience and common sense, along with some trial and error until I got the results I wanted.

@Icegoddess, the unit OP purchased for her sister is the PowerXL grill airfryer combo which has 12 functions and a 6 qt. capacity.

I bought this air fryer to take the place of my slow cooker and air fryer. I have a Dash 3 qt air fryer and while it works okay, and I use it quite a bit, the non-stick product on the inside basket has started to come off and it is a bit tiresome having to put the air fryer away if I want to use the slow cooker. This seemed like the answer. I haven't used it yet because of the air fryer lid issue mentioned and I wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing. Using it as a slow cooker on my counter would not be an issue, but opening the lid when using as an air fryer could be problematic. I have an island that I can use the air fryer on but the cord is short and I would have to use an extension cord to an outlet (about 2 ft away) and they say in the manual that they advise against doing that as the machine may not work properly. If that is the case I see no choice but to return it and this appliance is substantial thus I expect the shipping cost to return it will be substantial as well. Unfortunately when you are watching a presentation, they are always demonstrating on an open counter and that issue just didn't enter occur to me. My bad. I hope it works well for everyone else. FYI, I did Google reviews for Power XL air fryers and some models got really good reviews. But I too could not find any reviews for this specific model.

In order to use the AF I put it sideways on the counter. I was able to get the food in and out with no problem. I do have a lower counter with nothing above it but the AF puts out lots of heat at the back so I'm not so sure that would work. The counter is in front of a window.

I found the grill plate a little hard to clean. I think it's because it is black and hard to see if anything is left on it. The grill pan has two places the finish has come off. I have only cooked two steaks and I used silicone tongs to put them in and take them out. I am also a little worried that the metal feet on the plate will damage the finish on the inner pot.

On page 11 of the manual under grill it states that it heats the grill plate to the highest temperature of 500 degrees.

I will try something sauted and slow cooked to see if it stays or goes.
