Do any of you have one??? I saw the Today's (yesterday's) Special on HSN and was going to purchase, but decided to ask opinions here. Missed out on the price $79.99, free S&H, but BB&B has it for $99.99 less 20% if you have a coupon, free S&H if you got that email. They're also "throwing in" a "free" fry pan. I'd rather buy from BB&B in case something is wrong and has to be returned. Opinions, please.

Re: Portable Induction Burners

I'm sorry to say that I do not yet have experience with one, but I too was tempted and the thought of Qz's poor return policy is also what stopped me. Besides, eventually Costco will have them, no? As far as BBB, love them! When the Shark vacuums were being touted I looked at BBB and got a better deal with a $50 one-time discount shown to the mgr on my cell phone (he told me how to get it BTW) and was able to make a wise choice based on an employee's thorough knowledge of the models. No shipping, and no stress if I wasn't happy with the model. I have parrots and a difficult clean-up with which to deal daily.

I want one of those burners mainly cuz I'm lazy. If I can put it in the middle of my kitchen island, the spattering will be so easy to clean up lol! No stove burners or backsplash to clean. Also it might be nice to cook outside, within reach of an outlet, during nice weather. - Bird

Btw, I love the free fry pan that came with mine...finding induction-compatible cookware can be tough...can't use my hard anodized, that's for sure!!!!

Funny you should mention compatible cookware. Last night a woman called Ming Sign (sp?) on HSN and asked if anodized cookware would work. He sort of skirted the issue by saying it would be Ok, but try a magnet on the cookware and if it stuck, it should be OK. Being the chef that Ming Sigh (sp?) is, he should know anodized cookware isn't compatible -- at least I don't think it can be used on an induction cooktop. That being said, my cookware is OK. I just have to decide if I want one or not.

Re: Portable Induction Burners

FWIW, there are some inexpensive options out there for cookware for the Nuwave PIC. (Bought my NuWave PIC at Kohl's with $$ off plus a free Nuwave frypan a few years ago.)

I.E., I bought a 10 piece set of Wearever SS Cook & Strain from Walmart a few years back for around $70/set that work well and it appears they are still available on Amazon if you search.

Another poster here (4uthebest) turned me onto a T-Fal Elegance 12" non-stick induction ready skillet that is excellent (available at Walmart.com for under $30)! Sears meats perfectly and cleans like a breeze. They claim it is metal utensil & dishwasher friendly, but we're choosing to baby this pan. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

LOVE the NuWave PIC - fast, accurate heating with energy savings makes it our go-to heating element.

Re: Portable Induction Burners

I was wondering if the burner had an automatic turn off feature. I am in the process of teaching my granddaughteer how to cook. I see the Pro has that feature with turning off but was wondering if the Nu-Wave also had that.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Portable Induction Burners

I got a beautiful deep 10" skillet on SHq that I use on my induction burner. I think all anodized is aluminum. I'm not quite sure how it does it, but my Nu-Wave does turn itself off.
