So Molly Yeh has a salad recipe that has the internet talking.

It's a salad with popcorn in it and she insists that it's a popular and common Midwest dish. She said she grew up with it at church suppers, potlucks, barbecues, etc. 

However, I am from the Midwest and I have never once had this or even heard of it. I don't think I would have any interest anyway, because the thought of popcorn in salad, getting all soggy and mushy, grosses me out. I can't honestly judge it though because I haven't had it.

Have you ever heard of this or tried this?

Also from the Midwest- Indiana and Michigan. Never heard of this. No one in my world ever heard of it or ever made it.

I am in South Dakota. Been here my entire 61 years. Never heard of this salad or anything close to it. I agree with others-sounds gross!!

I saw a video of this this morning and it looks absolutely gross and most commentors agreed.

It was a mustard, mayo, sour cream base with cut up veggies and....pop corn.

So gross.....

I grew up in the Midwest (IL) and, thankfully, never, ever heard of such a thing.

However, thinking of this makes me a little queasy.

Me too, originally from Evansville, In (now Tx) never heard of it. I make coney island spread and nobody has ever heard of that either. LOL

bolongna, cheese, onions, pickles, Miracle Whip , little honey mustard, dash of pepper. Mix in food processor, bolongna , first, then cheese, process your onions and sweet pickles. Put in big mixing bowl, add Miracle Whip, mustard and pepper.

Nobody has ever heard of it. LOL Great summer time fare.

They sell Popcorn Salad in our grocery store deli.

I asked for a sample and that's how much I bought...zero...didn't care for it.

Just wierd with popcorn in a salad.

I'm from the midwest and have never heard of it either.  I don't know what kind of salad it was but I could see it if it was sprinkled on top of a regular salad much like croutons.  I wouldn't do it because I don't want croutons (or anything remotely close to it) in my salads.
