Just curious,how many colors is usual to buy for a place setting of 12? Do you match colors or go more really different color combos. Is there a color that you think food does not look appetizing on?? When you set your table is each place setting matched or do you mix up colors? What is the typical price per setting and in your opinion who has the best deals on Fiestaware?

Spud188- I think picking colors is so personal. Some people have just a couple colors while others have all different colors. I personally have 13 settings, each in a different color. I use to have all white dishes then received five settings in different colors. Honestly I wasn't sure about them, I thought they looked like a bag of skittles. It didn't take long for them to grow on me though! My kitchen is all white, grey, and wood so the pop of color of the dishes is great! I think for choosing colors it's best to look at them in person and see if there's a color combination you really like. As for an unappetizing color, for me the only one is ivory. We eat a lot of cauliflower, potatoes, chicken and white fish and in my opinion I don't like those foods on a cream colored plate ( or oatmeal out of the ivory bowl). Macy's and kohls have their Fiesta on sale along with coupons available most of time, I've never paid full price for any of mine. Have fun and good luck!

Spud188--I agree with Ellabell. The colors that you choose should suit your likes and personality. A few people have just one color, some have themes such as shades of blue, some go for just the bright colors and so on. There is no right or wrong. It is whatever catches your fancy.

I have 1 place setting in 10 different colors. I mix and match them. I let guests pick the color that they want. On a snowy day, I may get out my tropical colors. I just like to have fun with them.

You should really go to the store and see them. I assume that by Memorial day or at the latest, the first of June, there will be a sample plate of the new colors at the larger stores. You will be able to pick up the other colors and see if you like different combinations or how they work together. Also. although the new colors are not loaded in yet, the Fiesta site has a tool called Colorama which allows you to create a place setting using different colors to see how they look together. http://colorama.fiestafactorydirect.com/#

Last, I have never paid full price for any of my Fiesta. Dillards, BonTon, Macy's, Belks and Kohls all run sales throughout the year. Several times a year, some of the stores will have Fiesta marked at 50% off with additional percent off on top of that plus free shipping. Just decide what you like and buy then. Good luck!

I don't know what the heck. I went there again and the front page had the new colors mentioned, but then I cannot find it anywhere else. I feel like maybe it's the browser. Maybe I'll try going there using Chrome instead of IE. Am I the only one?

D'oh! I just looked again and when I scrolled down I saw that pre-ordering the new colors starts on May 15. So I guess it's not showing any of the items in the new colors yet. I'm a bonehead.

Terrier - I like the slate. I'm kind of a dark, intense Scorpio, so these are my types of colors. Black is my favorite color and the majority of my Fiesta is Black and Scarlet. I have some small pieces thrown in, in some other colors like tangerine, peacock, plum, and I forgot what else. But the red and black are mainly for me.

Charcoal grey is one of my four fav colors (along with black, red, and purple), so this new grey is probably right up my alley - like I need more! gack

I'm happy to say what I said about respecting you because it's true. If you know me at all, you probably know that I don't just say stuff. I will only say something that is exactly what I feel and stuff that is true. A lot of times I have to just back away from these people because there is nothing that can be said to make them care about how bad they look. They act like that because they ARE like that. You are able to gracefully handle it and I would not be able to do so, I'm pretty sure.

Like others mentioned, some people have mostly one color, some have 2, 3, 4 or 5. Some have many colors.

I first bought 4 jumbo cups in the colors I was considering. Then I could live with them for a while and decide which colors to choose for place settings. Another idea is to choose the fruit bowl in the colors you are considering.

Like others mentioned, it is really nice to visit a store and see the colors in person.

I love the jumbo cup. It is a great soup bowl and great for a big cup of coffee or tea or hot chocolate. Or ice cream bowl. Or chili bowl. So many uses.

I also love the fruit bowl. Very handy for a snack, a little dessert, or even fruit! It fits nicely on the dinner plate so it is great for something like coleslaw, veggies, baked beans, etc, so the sauce does not run into the other food on the plate.

I chose two colors for my place settings, then eventually added more colors by getting dinner plates, luncheon plates and salad plates in 4 other colors (one in each color). But that was just the beginning because there are so many great pieces to add, and so many great colors.

Here is my stack of fruit bowls. This is when I had 9 different colors. I now have 10. My latest fruit bowl is ivory. Ivory has really grown on me and I love it.

These are turquoise, marigold, flamingo, scarlet, sunflower, tangerine, cobalt, peacock, lemongrass.
