I did a post a few days ago and am doing what someone suggested........a dry run today. There's only DH and myself so I made enough (a generous amt.) for 2 nights, put the mashed with a little cream cheese and a little sour cream, in my smaller crock pot.....did the tea towel bit under the lid......on low....etc. etc. After a couple of hours I checked and the potatoes are extremely hot (love it...wonderful!) but I notice a kind of medium tannish almost crust like around the edges. It's not a hard crust, but I turned it off fearing it would get hard.
Is this what happens to yours? Should I have perhaps stirred it with a spatula around the edges every so often? This is in my smaller crock pot. Not sure what size it is, but I think it might be about a 3 or 4 qt. size. Would this have something to do with it? I haven't used this smaller one much, but I do know it does get pretty warm just on low. I would be using my bigger one X-Mas Day......maybe a 5 or 6 qt......oldie but goodie. I'm a little disappointed in these, but they are delicious! And very very hot. Hope someone can suggest something or tell me what I did wrong. TIA AnneMary
