We had eaten Planters for years and for some reason they have not been nearly as good as they used to be. We found CVS's Gold Emblem Deluxe mixed nuts to be much better. No peanuts in the one we get and they are on sale all the time. I think the can is like a medium purple. They also have them in unsalted if you prefer that. But so far they have been really good and fresh.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've made this snack mix for 20 years and include it in gift bags and take to parties and have always been satisfied with that 3 lb can of nuts. When I opened it this year, it all came back to me that last year I was shocked at the number of peanuts and said then I would not buy it again, but a year later I forgot.

Since I triple the recipe and it is pretty costly anyway with all the ingredients, I thought I was saving on the big can of nuts. Will never again buy Planters. I've bought those smaller cans of Deluxe nuts during the year for snacks, but they are more costly so chose the larger can. I know about those sales at CVS and Walgreens on nuts and will just buy during the year and save.

This can I have now says it is good until August 2016 - they already taste stale to me - hate to think what they would be like a year and a half from now. The liquid ingredients will help with that.

Again thanks for your input.

I would look into buying the nuts in the bulk bins. You could get whatever blend you would like then.

For the second year in a row, the large can of PLANTER's MIXED NUTS have been a major disappointment. The side of the can says less than 50% peanuts and I have decided it is ONE PEANUT less than 50%. Disgusting - plus the almonds look old and are dark. That can was almost $15 at Sam's and is 49.999999% PEANUTS.

I use them in my "Nuts & Bolts" cereal mixture but will try to find another brand than Planter's.

I want to SCREAM at that purchase. Any suggestions for a better brand.

That is funny because I was making "nuts & bolts" last night - had bought the large can of Planters Mixed Nuts and was thinking the same thing. There were so many peanuts. They are not being truthful when they put on the can less that 50% peanuts.

I think the Planter's Mixed Nuts have gone done in quality and you're right, it's chocked full of peanuts.

Have been buying Aldi's Deluxe Mixed Nuts and have been happy with them. And not one peanut in the bunch.

Second Aldi-s Deluxe Mixed.

I go to Aldi's all the time - never thought about trying the nuts. Thanks for the "heads up". Won't buy Planter's again - quality is waaaay down in my opinion. Wish I could take them back to Sam's.

Planter's has a Deluxe Mix with no peanuts as well, but the Aldi's I'm sure is cheaper.

Yeah, that's a good choice. Or, if you want some peanuts in the mix just get a can of the regular mixed and a can of the deluxe and mix them together to cut the peanut volume back.

That's what we buy at Sams and they are very good. We just finished off a jar recently.
