Re: Phyllis Goods new crockpot cookbook.

Good deal, @Imaoldhippie. I'm not a big fan of her cookbooks but hope you enjoy it if you did buy it.

@Imaoldhippie, we're not big fans of slow cooker cooking. Each time we think we should try it again, we're just not fond of the results. But during one of those trials, I did buy her "Big" version of fix it and forget it.

Almost every recipe relied on processed foods -- seasoning packets, frozen stuff, etc. It was a kind of "dump" cooking -- easy but not appealing to us. Also, her recipes are often repetitious -- just a tweak here or there.

Maybe if we had a dozen kids to feed every night, we would avail ourselves of such shortcuts occasionally. But we are empty-nesters and prefer fresh food whenever possible and bright flavors. Neither seems to lend itself to slow cooker cooking.

Remember, you did ask. :-)

@suzyQ3  So it's really more the tecnique  ( Slow cooker cooking) than just this authors cookbook you don't like.

@candys mine, it's both. If  I could find a slow cooker cookbook to my liking, I might try again. But it would have to have recipes that somehow preserved the taste and freshness of the food and didn't resort to processed food unless it was necessary.

Re: Phyllis Goods new crockpot cookbook.

@suzyQ3.................thanks.  I use my crockpot frequently.  We have a lot of church potlucks, and on Sundays I like to have our dinner ready when we get home.  I have been looking for a good potcrock cookbook, and when Phyllis was on the Q I thought maybe it would be a good choice.  I am looking for different things to cook as I have tweaked most of the things I put in it.  So I need new ideas, not tweaking.  Thanks for your input I really appreciate it.
