I bake alot around the holidays. I use vanilla from Haiti. I went there in 2001 and returned with a bottle. Back then I was alone, but I always baked fruitcakes for my family and friends.  (not the nasty kind you'd buy at a store). My missionary friends keep some of the vanilla and  Haitian grown coffee on hand at their headquarters for people to purchase. I'm on my 3rd or 4th bottle.
