A roll lasts me a month. I use microfiber cloths from the Q and love them.

We still buy them because my husband likes to keep them on hand, but we only use them for emergencies.

Will never give these up,
This is what I use, plus I also have a dog that makes a mess eating, so I could NEVER be without my Bounty Paper Towels!!!

I literally, not figuratively, have the same roll in my cabinet
which I purchased close to 15yrs ago. I never use.
I just use sponges/hand towels....use, wash, repeat.
Sterilize sponges daily in the microwave, replace when needed.
Launder hand towels, replace when thread-barren.

I was sanitizing sponges in the microwave (no dishwasher here but me!) and I heard that now they think that isn't getting them sanitary.
Have you read/heard anything about that? Kind of bummed, because we grew up never having sponges, as my mom thought they were dirty. But when the Campenelli sponges came here on Q, we tried them, and for the first time in my life, I knew the joy of a sponge! LOL
I'm still putting them in the microwave kind of water logged, and for like 3 minutes. We haven't died of anything yet, but now I do wonder if it is really sanitizing the interior like it should.

I throw them in the dishwasher, as well.
But again....it all goes back with what I’m clean up in the first place.
No oil, no grease, no animal flesh.

Just another tip for using Blue Dawn. If you have a grease spot on your clothing put just a drop of Blue Dawn on it and rub it in with your finger. Let it sit for 15 mins. and wash as usual. If it does not completely come out repeat.

...smelly dish cloths...?
Ewww...you don’t do laundry?
ETA: It dawned on me...since I eat low fat plant based, my kitchen
is clean most of the time..no grease, oil or decaying smells I have to
wipe down all the time.
I can't imagine life without dishcloths. I think it is best to change them every day (or after they are exposed to bacteria laden things like raw meat), but I don't have a stink issue with them.
I do remember as a kid being in people's homes who's dishcloths were icky and stinky...actually felt slimy! Ick.
But I can't imagine using paper towels to wash dishes, counters etc. I'd need a second mortgage on the house for as many as I'd go through!

There is still a lot of bacteria on fresh produce though.
But I'm guessing if you and I and the probably millions of others using the microwave to santize haven't been sick from bacteria in sponges, it must be working good enough.

Paper towels. Reusing any kind of cloth or sponge grosses me out.
