Re: Paper towels - yes or no?

We have a small plastic basket by the sink, after we are done w/the paper towels we put them in that basket and use them for spills on the floor.

Then we burn them so they also keep us warm.

We use paper towels (Members Mark select a size from Sam’s). I will never give them up.

I keep them around for certain messes, but mostly use cloth towels

Re: Paper towels - yes or no?

I'm a Bounty select a size girl. But I really try and watch how many I use, as I think it is very wasteful, when other type rags/cloths will work.

I don't use them for windows anymore, or to clean up a spill. There are great cloths, and old towels and rags that work just fine for things like that.

I now save them for the really gross things, that you wouldn't want to have to wash out of a towel/cloth/rag.

I use them for cleaning up vomit from the animals, or pick up the remains of the cat's 'hunt'. I use them to soak the grease  out of bacon once cooked.

I've reduced my paper towel usage by probably three fourths over what I used many years ago. I don't like the expense or the waste. I've found great alternatives in bio cleaner cloths for windows and mirrors and glass, microfiber towels for cleaning other messes and areas. Old towels and t shirts for cleaning, etc.

Re: Paper towels - yes or no?

Love the Bounty Select-A-Size paper towels. Paper towels have been around all my life (70 years). At least I recycle them! (Mom never thought about that in the '50's and '60's, but that's what soaked up the bacon grease, etc. Gross. Can't remember when she finally became aware of the landfill problems.)

Money screams; wealth whispers.

Re: Paper towels - yes or no?

Nope.

I literally, not figuratively, have the same roll in my cabinet

which I purchased close to 15yrs ago.  I never use.

I just use sponges/hand towels....use, wash, repeat.

Sterilize sponges daily in the microwave, replace when needed.

Launder hand towels, replace when thread-barren.

I don't have to read the article.  I use paper towels because they are easier, quicker and more sanitary.  I'm not going back to the 50's have smelly dish cloths in my kitchen.

Re: Paper towels - yes or no?

I use paper towels to clean up things I don’t want going in my wash but I tend to use cloth diapers for everything else. Oh, I don’t buy napkins so we use paper towels for that.

ETA:  It dawned on me...since I eat low fat plant based, my kitchen

is clean most of the time..no grease, oil or decaying smells I have to

wipe down all the time.
