POWER PRESSURE COKER XL QUESTION(S)

We bought the last TSV Power Pressure Cooker XL.  I have never used a pressure cooker before, and I am having a little trouble "getting" the basics, I guess.  Seems so many of the different cookers have and use different buttons.  I really want to learn to use this item, but I clearly need help.

There is no "High" button on this device; however, many recipes call for cooking on High or Low.  I purchased the Bob Warden pressure cooker recipes book and tried making his Steel Cut Oats recipe this morning.  It turned out like soup, I'm sure due to something I did wrong.

How do you cook something on high if it is called for in a recipe?  I'm sure there are basics that I'm just not getting.  I know, probably a real "duh" moment for me.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Re: POWER PRESSURE COKER XL QUESTION(S)

I have been using PC's for a long time and decided to "upgrade" to this one, and I can't say I'm happy with it. Eric Theiss's cook book is very good, but it's useless when it comes to this appliance. What I have found to be somewhat helpful is the PPC XL site that has more recipes and tells you what buttons to push, and there are lots and lots of YouTube videos....well, I never would have thought to cook brussel sprouts on the fish setting....I like a challenge and I'm not sending it back, but in many ways, it's far more confusing than it should be. I want to play with it and watch more videos so I can figure out how to use my traditional PC recipes-including Bob Wardens-my favorite. I hope this helps....

Poodlepet2, it does help to know I'm not the only one who thinks this is confusing.  I agree that it is far more confusing than it should be.  Thanks so much for your response.

Re: POWER PRESSURE COKER XL QUESTION(S)

@12andcounting the PPCXL has a great facebook page, where the members post lots of tried and true recipes, ones that are sure to work (sometimes cause they have failed in the past and tweaked them for thiis unit!)! You should check it out!
