I use Pepperidge Farm Herb Stuffing Crumbs (14 oz. bag).  I add sautéed diced celery & diced onion (a generous cup of each) that's been done in a generous amount real butter ( 1/4-1/3 cup).  I use Kettle & Fire chicken broth for the liquid instead of water.  Heat 2.5 - 2.75 cups, depending on how moist you want the stuffing to be.  I always stuff the turkey but you can easily do this while the turkey is resting prior to carving.  Be sure to heat your broth to boiling and after mixing everything together let it sit for a few minutes to allow the stuffing crumbs to absorb the liquid. Give it one more quick stir before serving.

Do you bake it?

yes, but not too long, @Puppy Galore. It can be done while the turkey is resting and being sliced, so about 25-30 minutes.  350* oven.  Sorry, for not being clear.

Thank you. I'm not having turkey but I love dressing. Mom used to add mild Italian sausage and J.Dean pork sausage, she added fresh cranberries to it. I'll try your recipe.

I may use only one sausage.  Thank you.

@Puppy Galore Unless it's a large amount -- no. It's a personal choice but I figure at this point with all else you'll be eating, go for it!

@JeanLouiseFinch We use the same things you do with the exception of cutting up fresh parsley into tiny pieces to add to the mixture.  P.F. stuffing is very good - we use 5 bags for thanksgiving dinner and leftovers!

[ Edited ]

Not always, but as a change, I like to add corn to my prepared stuffing (dressing). I use the Green Giant niblets because they're nice and crisp.

My favorite prepared mix was the Kellogg's Stuffing. Like many fans, I'd look forward to this familiar package in the aisle kiosks around holiday time. Sadly, it was discontinued around 15 years ago. Demand just couldn't compare to that for Stove Top, which took over the market from the time it was introduced.

I'd even tried "copy cat" recipes, supposedly recreating the flavor, but they didn't work. So I moved on to Arnold's Stuffing Mix, which we think is good.

RIP😥

Re: PACKAGED DRESSING...any extras to add?

Anybody use this cornbread dressing mix?

This morning I went to 3 different food stores and could not find Pepperidge Cornbread

stuffing/dressing mix.

I did buy StoveTop Chicken and Turkey.

I remember that a few years ago I couldn't find it either.

I purchased this and it was good.

Anyone else use it.

After two hours of shopping for the dang CBDressing mix, I forgot the sausages, J. Dean sausage and the Italian, tomorrow morning I buy both.

Mrs. Cubbison's Corn Bread Stuffing, Seasoned.

It's in a box, 12 OZ

@JeanLouiseFinch

I will put dressing in a separate pan.

Your stuffing sounds like a gourmet treat.

Delicious. I could probably eat only that ( well maybe a desert too ) and come away from the table happy!

@Roscoe the Rascal

Yes, I would prefer that too.

Oh well, maybe next year.

@ThinkingOutLoud

Since I am making my own cranberry sauce, I will do that.

Never occurred to me.

Thanks.
