@Snowpuppy    I've never regretted my purchase, and I never expected it to be a good financial investment as well.

OMG, that pattern I think with the cube marking has likely outperformed the stock market ! 😄

Re: Oneida Michaelangelo/Michaelangelo Golden ?

I have 2 different sets of stainless/gold flatware. One is ornate that I usually use for holidays, and the other one is a simpler beaded pattern. They have not tarnished.

At my last house, I had a Gorham stainless/gold flatware set in an Art Deco pattern for 20+ years that never tarnished after many times in the dishwasher.

Macy's has the Oneida Michelangelo pattern. It has a 4.6 star rating with 38 ratings there. None of the ratings complained of tarnishing.

Re: Oneida Michaelangelo/Michaelangelo Golden ?

I registered for the Michaelangelo18/10 stainless back in 1972. Someone gave me a set of the steak knives in sterling....I traded them for the complete set of stainless since the silver knives were so expensive. I use them everyday and put in dishwasher; they still look like new. I also have a set of RSVP I bought when QVC had it....also really like it.

Two of my daughters also have Michaelangelo. None of us have the golden one.

The cube marked pieces, made in the USA fetch a hefty price!

I always heard "knives can't be put in the dish washer" (hollow handles).

I never registered for silver or china; I didn't want it and haven't since.

@ECBG I have collected a lot of silver over the years and one thing you can only find in sterling it seems are wonderful spoons!  I have a number of big round gumbo spoons and larger soup/dessert spoons and cream soups that are bigger, beautifully balanced and lovely to eat with.

We keep them in an antique celery jar on the kitchen counter and use them daily.  If you aren't stuck on a certain pattern you can still find them not too expensive now.  So many patterns can be found it's fun to collect. I'll bet they are lurking in shops in your neck of the woods!

@Sooner

Question please.  Last year at an antique store. I saw a beautiful extremely long handled with a very large spoon shaped end spoon.  I assumed it was a buffet spoon.  Your thoughts please?

I wanted it but was co.ing down with a UTI and left.   She wouldn't ship it to me from the beach.

@ECBG Oh those are wonderful and often expensive.  The really big ones are usually stuffing spoons or rice spoons!  My only rice spoons I have are plated ones I got at Middleton Plantation for joining to pay for tickets and their publication.

Sorry you missed a good opportunity.  They are very useful!!!
