Okay, what am I doing wrong as I am

having a problem getting the hopper with the genius mandolin to work correctly I ordered it after checking all my local kitchen shops and since I did not find anything like it decided to go ahead and order. I wanted to slice a lot of garlic very thin as Chef Tony did in the demo. Well it did not happen and if I can't master it, I will send it back. Help!

Only thing I remember is he held it at an angle and sliced down ward. You might find the video that advertises the product U bought and watch him do it.
