An American dessert that dates back to Colonial American time. A ‘betty’ is a baked pudding, made with layers of sweetened and spiced fruit and buttered bread crumbs. It is usually served with a lemon sauce and/or whipped cream. The most familiar one is the Apple Brown Betty, made with sliced apples and brown sugar.

This is easier to bake than an apple pie, so I might be able to make this sometime this fall despite my lack of cooking skills.

I just told my hubby this - he said hey I can make this today! HE makes a mean apple Betty, his beloved Grandmother's recipe. MMMMMM - I can smell it baking already, feeling warm & fuzzy inside.....

Eat it warm w/a good vanilla ice cream on top - now THIS is what Apple Betty day is all about!!!
