I have a question about the Toast function - when your toast shade has been reached, does the oven automatically turn off?

Haven't had a chance to try the other functions yet.

The manual is online, did you not get one with the oven?

To Use the Toast Function Place oven rack into the desired position beforeheating the oven. (See“PositioningRack”Section) NOTE – Different types of bread require different settings. Lighter breads and waffles require a lighter setting. Darker breads, muffins, and English muffins require a darker setting. Arrange food on the wire rack. Push the Toast button. Use arrows to select Toast Shade. Press the Start button. When toasting is completed, open door fully and remove food carefully.

Hi Bling -  Yes, I got a manual.  Here's what I' asking -  I put a piece of bread in and set the shade on "4" pressed start and it started toasting.  But, the Toast was brown and the toaster was still going.  I'm asking does the oven automatically shut off when shade #4 is reached?

@SharkE

Good for you!  Now make a bunch of stuff and let us know how it turns out.  I love the way my black and chrome looks in my kitchen !

@Mistreatedbycs I just answered my own question.  I set my shade # a little lower, and  the oven beeped and turned off before the Toast got too brown.  Thanks for trying to answer my question!  You live and learn!

Let me know when to arrive for the picnic.  I live just South of Ft. Worth.  Think I will try oven fried chicken in my new oven!

Cool here today in the amarillo area. I got out and planted 2 shrubs where 2 had died. While out there, FEXex pulled up and packed in the oven.

I finished up my chores, came in and pushed box in house. Hubbo is home he lifted it up on the counter surround shelf for me.

Man, that cord is a shortie!  Good thing it's no problem for me, but, some may have to use an extension as stated in the manual.

I'll take pic after while and show all my 'junk'. LOL   One thing I learned is your suppose to use that enclosed bake pan on some functions. It fits under the rack in the rack slot. I never did that with my other one and maybe that's why some biscuits never browned on the bottom. I thought that bake pan was just an accessory LOL

When you read the whole manual it clearly says for certain functions you use the bake pan and in others you don't.  I learned something today.

@SharkE

Thanks for the clue on the baking pan and oven rack - kinda odd.  When they said "short cord", they meant just that - got to be the shortest one I've ever seen.  Fortunately it wasn't a problem for me.

Let's have fun with our new toy!

I thought that pan , when you use 'Bake' was suppose to fit in the rack slot, but, it's not wide enough.

Guess you just use that pan if you want to bake something. I'm lost here

Really don't know what the function is now.

I baked potato wedges from Schwan for supper and put a oven thermometer in it to test the accuracy of the temp. It held at 400'.

If you put in a 9x13 pan you wouldn't need the bake pan. Guess I'll just use it if it happens to fit stuff like french frys, etc.

Could the pan function as a crumb tray?

Re: OSTER OVEN XL

[ Edited ]

No, dummy here figured it out. If you want to grill or broil the one rack has raised edges on it and the pan slides into and holds the pan when you slide it back into the oven.

I wouldn't grill in a oven in the first place. Broil, I guess the pan serves to catch anything dripping and hitting the heat element. I would use 'broil' to really brown the top of a pizza . Got to have my mozzarella cheese really melty. LOL

Nice little oven. I'm satisfied.

20144923230.gif   p.s. has it's own separate crumb tray, easy in/out too.
