Nu Wave Oven not worth buying

Nu Wave oven is very disappointing!  My wife and I purchased the Nu Wave oven and I was so excited when it arrived, we used it yesterday and we were very disappointed at the results. We placed 2 frozen chicken breasts and some carrots and potatoes in it and read the directions & followed the instructions to the letter. According to the instructions, the frozen chicken should be cooked on both sides for about 15-18 minutes each according to thickness and the vegetables about the same.

Afte an hour, the vegetables were awful and still not cooked, and the chicken was still raw in the middle and there was absolutely no moistness, everything was dry and horrible. We ended up throwing out the vegetables and re-cooking additional vegetables on the stove in a pan and they were done in less than 10 minutes and were delicious. The chicken well we couldn't really do anything about that, we browned them for about 10-12 minutes on both sides and they were tolerable but pretty much ruined.

You know this was the second time that we have had a bad experience with items bought from QVC. I mean the name brand stuff like the Keruig coffee maker and the iPad  were great, but these off brands like Nu-Wave and the Go Smile teeth whitening gel, they are horrible and yet QVC still sells them.

Thanks for posting this.  I was thinking about buying this for my sister for Christmas.

Re: Nu Wave Oven not worth buying

QVC.com is down, so I went to read reviews on Amazon.  No idea if QVC's NuWave is different, but there are hundreds of positive reviews available on Amazon for several different models of this device, so that's very likely why QVC continues to sell it.

I will continue to follow this item because I was tempted when it was the TSV and I'm still thinking it might work for me.  Not at all sure why it ruined OP's dinner.  That's certainly a negative.

Re: Nu Wave Oven not worth buying

I'm so sorry voyager950 that your experience with the NuWave oven was a bad one.  It sounds like they sent you a defective machine.  I've not yet cooked anything frozen in ours, other than potato puffs, but the food I did cook in the NuWave turned out great! We love ours!   I'd call customer service and tell them about your bad experience.  You deserve to have a new machine sent out and the one you have sent back with no postage, but I'm not the company.  I wish you success in getting the matter resolved to your satisfaction.

Re: Nu Wave Oven not worth buying

I have had two different models, analog and digital, gifts from my dad. Both worked great! I have cooked whole frozen chickens and Cornish hens, steaks, roasts, vegetables, shrimp, you name it in this device and have never been disappointed. Came from the NuWave infomercials. Everything I cooked was juicy. I think you got a dud and should get a free replacement.

Re: Nu Wave Oven not worth buying

Good Morning - I just recently bought the NuWave as TSV and was very pleased.  I have cooked a whole chicken (not frozen) and pork chops and they turned out great.  Nicely browned and moist inside.  So far I have had no problems with the product.

I wasn't fond of mine either so I gave it away.  My sister on the other hand loves hers and is sure she can't live without it.   It's one of those things you love or hate.

Two years ago I got the Big Boss (similar to NuWave) and just love it - it is still working great.  Cook all of my meat in it because it takes all the grease out, browns the meat and keeps it moist.  Sorry your NuWave didn't work out for you.

Have the "F agor" and love it, it's a halogen/convection, not infra red, with actual temperature controls, not one temp for all..I find it indeispensible and use it daily..there was a bit of a learning curve but I love it..

sorry you you have had trouble with the NuWave....

Re: Nu Wave Oven not worth buying

My Nuwave would not shut off after the time was up.  The only way to stop it was to unplug it.  Then I left it plugged in one night and when I came into the kitchen the next morning it was running and very hot.  That's when I pitched it.

I had the Sharper Image version in which I could bake the most beautiful golden breads that were pure dough in the middle.  I got a Breville convection oven and have lived happily ever after.
