One week ago today, things started falling apart. It seemed as if everything I touched, broke. My car that has only 5,000 miles on it, broke down several times. The dealer can't figure out what's wrong with it. Our a/c broke down and we managed to find a repairman, despite the extreme temps. The next day, I dropped my eyeglasses while walking the dog and when I found them, they were smashed. That afternoon, our cable t.v., internet and phone stopped working. It turns out that the installer for our neighbor cut our connection, so we were without phone, internet and t.v. for 24 hours. At the grocery store t, I heard something clinking. When I looked down, the clasp of my new Dooney bag had completely come apart and pieces were rolling all over the floor. I dealt with all of these little problems gracefully. After all, it's only stuff. Right? Then, yesterday, my oven stopped working. THAT'S WHEN I FREAKED OUT! My oven?! I can't live without my oven! I got a repairman here today, and $160 later, the oven is fixed. He replaced the ignitor and said that he'd also replace the oven light if I had an appliance bulb. I was delighted to find that I had a brand new one in the garage. I thought my clumsy streak had ended, until I went into the garage later to find that the entire basket of bulbs had fallen off the shelf and there was broken glass everywhere. Sigh.

What a string of bad luck! Hopefully that is over for awhile.
When I have similar experiences, and I think they happen to all of us from time to time, I try to find comfort in knowing that, just as you stated, it is just 'things'. They may be important things, and they may cost money (more than we can/want to afford) to get back or working again, but I'm ever so grateful that it isn't a death, followed by a terrible health related diagnosis, followed by a big loss (like a house fire) followed by..... as that is how some folks get hit.
Hopefully things will subside and life can get back to normal. I do feel your pain!

Housecat, so sorry for your misfortunes. It seems like when your on a streak like that it never stops. Best to laugh and roll with it. One thing I've learned to say is "nothing else could possibly go wrong." It seems like out of spite somethin will! Kitty60

Ha! Kitty60, I would never say that!
Fingers crossed, it looks like my clumsy streak might be a thing of the past.
