Hamilton Beach Brew Station, period! I love it and so does my grandmother and coworkers.....

Product Details $25 Areopress

.....

By FAR, FAR.. this makes the best tasting coffee I have ever had and tens of thousands of people agree, BUT it is a single serve and requires much more technique . For that special treat ,Nothing including the French press and Machines under $500 can compare.

As far as another option I also would go with BUNN as it is the company that many restaurants use to make their coffee and it is assembled in the USA.

For OVER $500 BUNN makes a unit that rivals and because of the cup to cup consistency excels over the Aeropress and it is called the Trifecta..

I love my Black n Decker. It makes tea OR coffee and it has a timer for breakfast-ready coffee. Very happy with it, in stainless steel.

I guess it depends how much coffee she drinks. The Keurig is perfect for us because I rarely drink coffee, and if I do, it's one cup of decaf. DH only drinks one cup before going to work. I love the hot chocolate and tea occasionally. So for us, it would be more wasteful to toss out pots of coffee. If your Mom is the same, I'd suggest sticking with the Keurig (even though that's not what you asked Smiley Happy

I agree about the AreoPress. It does require more coffee to brew a very strong cup of coffee (2 large AreoPress scoops). You can dilute it (American Coffee) or fill with frothed milk or flavored frothed milk of your choice. Instant latte or cappuccino. I fill mine upside down so the grounds will soak in the hot coffee for 3 minutes, then I press it. You get the great oil and creme. It does take little time compared to brewing a pot or my percolator, but the coffee is great! I drink one cup at a time since it serves as a portion control. If I have to get up and make it instead of filling my cup, I'll think about how much I'm drinking. I try to switch to green tea after lunch for the antioxidants. I haven't used the AreoPress for tea, but it would make a great cup as well, provided the water is the right temp and the tea leaves are allowed to bloom for the right time.

The clean up is easy as the paper filter and pressing the grounds makes a coffee ground puck that just pops right out. You can also buy a metal filter that allows for more of the oils to come through, but mine came with a ton of the paper ones, so I'll use those first then buy the metal one. I just compost the the coffee puck and paper filter.

Don't care for automatic drip because the coffee is never hot enough. I like the Farberware electric perk coffee maker, makes delicious coffee and it's really hot and doesn't cost much.

I haven't had luck with Keurig brand coffee pots either and decided I didn't want to waste my money on another one.

Over a year ago DH bought me a Mr. Coffee (single cup) pot that takes Keurig cups and it's still working fine. I don't drink a lot of coffee but have to have that first cup in the morning and this works well for me. I just add filtered water each time I use it and it gives me a great cup of coffee each time. It was also a lot less expensive than a Keurig.

Perhaps the Mr. Coffee pot would work well for your mother too.

We use a plain Mr. Coffee, with no bells or whistles (drip). We have had our current one for 9 years.

Thank you for your suggestions. I am going to write each of these down and let mom look and choose which one will be best for her.

A couple of years ago I bought a Presto 12 cup electric percolator after reading raves on here of the old Farberwares (which last forever). We love the good, hot coffee it makes. I've heard the newer electric percolators don't last decades like the older ones so I bought another as backup. Recently had a group of friends over and they loved the coffee.
