Sure blame the product...or do some people just make purchases without realizing if it will fit their lifestyle?

I realize that there are recyclable and reusable K-cups out there. I also realize that my coffee cost around .35 cents a cup, Starbucks brand under .50 cents. I think I'm worth that for coffee I enjoy.

And while some are waiting for their delivery driver to warm their car I can have two pizzas made in the grill kept year round on the deck.

Not everything is for everyone. I would never speak negatively of a product I've never used. I would never chide or ridicule someone for a purchase they make.

I agree with @Etoile308 . You make some points @Othereeeen but you are neglecting to point out people's lifestyle and personal needs.

Vitamix, yep I have had one for years and use it frequently. Yes, other mixers can mix most everything pretty good, except, wait for it, your own nut butter. I tried multiple blenders and nothing mixed plain ole nuts into butter. Every Christmas my family asks for my nut butter. I make about 3 batches a month. The noise? No biggie.

Keurig, did you know there are recyclable ones? And you can purchase them for .30  if you watch for sales?  Maybe check it out. And I don't need a reservoir as our keurig is built in to our refrigerator. Every cup brewed comes directly from our fresh filtered water. We also have a coffee pot for when we want more than just a cup or two. I believe using a coffee pot could produce a lot more energy than one keurig cup. Coffee needs to be brewed then kept heated if you make a pot until it is consumed. Many times not all the coffee is consumed, you don't always know how much everyone will drink. That could be very wasteful.

I can't comment to your other items, I don't own them. I do know that your comments regarding my own personal purchases are completely inaccurate as these appliances have been used hundreds of times for years and still running strong.

With all that said, yes there are gimmicks. Keep in mind what may be a gimmick to you may be very useful to another. I would never judge someone for their purchase or criticize them. If it makes them happy, that's what matters.

Re: Ninja Creami

[ Edited ]

@cjm61

I don't judge the PEOPLE who buy the gimmicks....if I did to you in past comments, I apologize.

I judge the GIMMICKS themselves.

If you use the items you buy, fine. I think, from what I see in yard sales just in my area, there are a lot of these things sold that are used one or two times and that's it.

Combined with comments from acquaintances with these anchors down in the basement or clogging up the garage while the car sits out in the weather,  many seem to agree.

Enjoy what you buy and use!!!

And yes KA Is coasting on it's reputation from fifty years ago. Read the reviews or just visit You Tube to see the how-to repair videos. They ain't your grandma's KA mixers. The ones on last weeks show sounded like they were going to fly apart. Watch the show when the TSV kicked off and LISTEN to that mixer. Whoa!!!

Same with John Deere mowers. Plastic junk in the critical parts. BTDT. Coasting on thier reputations.

SOMEONE has to be creating a demand for these items...

Just not me any longer..

Please tell me you didn't buy a "garbage bowl".....!!!!!

Peace!!!

@Icegoddess    They called the frozen can of pineapple, sorbet, not ice cream as it had no cream or milk in it.

I disagree wholeheartedly that these will be at a garage sale soon. I don't have the Ninja Creami but I do have an automatic ice cream maker. It makes a pretty good size batch, can't remember the amount, and I bought the one that comes with 2 canisters. We use it ALL THE TIME in the summer. Yes, you have to put it in the freezer the day before then you churn the cream or milk and it only takes about 20-30 minutes. I've had it for about 5-6 years and I can't even tell you how many batches we have made.

My daughter has the exact same model so when we have a large group over she will bring hers and we make several batches in a short time. Everyone loves it. I have made it with skim, lowfat as well as cream. Sometimes we add cookies or some topping but 90% of the time we just make vanilla. We also like to add fresh fruit in season, especially peaches from our tree.

It baffles me that people post such negative things on a product they have never even used. If you purchased one I feel confident you will enjoy it tremendously.

@cjm61    I agree.  I had the type of ice cream maker you describe and used it constantly until I had no space in the freezer for the container.  I'd use a pint size container of unsweetened vanilla yogurt, artificial sweetener and diced mango.  Absolutely delicious.  I was addicted to this stuff.

I think all gadgets have their place.  Some people buy and regret, but many use and enjoy them.  The creami is the same.   Some people like to cook/create dishes, and I really wish I was one of those, but I'm not.  The Creami is great for those people and ones who like to make keto frozen products because keto recipes don't re-freeze well and that's one place where the Cream shines.  I did want to point out though, that it might take several times running it through the machine to get that creamy texture.

I have and love kitchen gadgets and some I use more than others.  I have a KA mixer, an Air Fryer, a Ninja grill, a Wolfgang Puck food processor, blender, and slow cooker, a mini CE pressure cooker. Many are ony used occasionally, but they still have a place in my kitchen

I also have 2 carbonators, something I'm sure many here would consider worthless.   One is the original SodaStream.  As was mentioned here about plastic parts, a small plastic part broke on ours and I used it as an opportunity to buy a Drinkmate.  DH finally printed a replacement plastic part for the one that broke and he still uses that machine which is why we still have it.  I prefer the Drinkmate because you can carbonate ANYTHING in it, but only water in the SodaStream.  I like to mix my drinks before I carbonate them especially because I don't use syrups.

So, I guess there's a gadget for everyone and a person for every gadget.

BTW, I've never had a bit of problem with my front load washing machine.  The dryer, and they're all front loaders even before the front load washers became popular, had to have it's brain replaced a year or so after we bought it, and still have problems with it on occasion.

I bought a Creami when it was the TSV in the spring. We use it several times. My son is sensitive to lactose so he can’t just pull some Bryers out of the freezer. I wouldn’t call most of what we make in the Creami ice cream. It’s more of a frozen dessert but still delicious.

I love my food processor. Ever try to make falafel with a knife? That’s a no thank you.

It must have taken quite a bit of time to compile this list with the comments.  It's almost pathetic that nothing positive has been said about any of the items listed.  I strongly disagree with the categorization of all the items as "gimmicks". Let's start with the definition of a "gimmick".  "A gimmick is a novel device or idea designed primarily to attract attention or increase appeal, often with little intrinsic value."  I find real intrinsic value in many of the items listed, having owned several of them for years and they made my life easier, particularly after having gone through several serious health issues (a broken shoulder, breast cancer and the resulting side effects from chemo and radiation).  They have contributed to my being able to prep and cook under very difficult circumstances and afforded me the opportunity to continue to experience my joy of cooking.  At 74. I appreciate the fact that these new appliances allow me to do so much more so easily.  I am grateful for all these innovations and hope others feel that same.

I read here about the Certified Gimmick Spotter's expertise at nearly 67 y/o.  Funny!  Well, I have 10 years on the Spotter and have owned nearly every small appliance and kitchen helper under the sun at one time or another finding them all useful, granted some more than others, although the Creami is not one I have been tempted by.

I have to add that I am also rather fond of my beautiful garbage bowl, it might be said that we have a personal relationship; it sure does the gadgety trick fantastically like no other, especially for big jobs with that nice wide mouth and very stable base and no plastic to the landfill.  Easy to clean, too.  Even at my age I still purchase kitchen "gadgets" as they appeal to me and my increasing needs.  I derive great fun from it and also fun here to read what appeals to other people, or what they bought that wasn't what they had hoped for -- it's helpful. I cheer all of you kitchen gadget freaks on, enjoy yourselves, shop smart with the best buys, have fun just looking and mostly using your finds.

@Othereeeen  I love your attitude!  Judge and condemn all of us who use items to make life easier.  Why do you care?  It's not your money, nothing is stored in your home and you don't have to see it.  How about live and let live?  I wish you a happy holiday season and wish you a more positive outlook for the new year.
