I'm new to vitamix .... been on the fence for years the newest model a3500 just came out and I was excited to hear it would in the spring have 8 ounce container and 20 ounces ... finally ... I thought this is for me ... anyways I've made almond milk and soups .. so far so good except for icy treats ... with almond milk heavy whipping cream some ice sweetness and etc ... anyways tried several times and I'm extremely disappointed with the way it crushes ice so unevenly .... the new kitchenaid cordless pro immersion blender I just bought crush ice beautifully and is delicious and evenly blended ... and reminds me of ice cream .... are vitamix known for not blending ice well ? I will be making those a lot and so far I can honestly say I'm not happy at all with how it does.... honestly it's terrible in my opinion... with the container I'm using and definetly get warm fast even when under a minute ..I 'm also thinking maybe the pre programs are a waste of money and I should have went for a lesser model esp .. since the desert setting don't blend ice at all well ... I heard the smaller narrow container 32 ounce would work better for the ice but there's no news that the a3500 will be receiving that type of container later . Very expensive wait and see type of ideal . Makes me wonder how the 20 ounce container and 8 ounce will do ... one not when I made soup on the pre program it seem like I was picking up a taste from the machine ... not sure but I make a lot of soup and I took one of my recipe and use it in vitamix and can taste something weird and off slightly hmmmm ........... update now I'm having issues with the touchscreen I had to have them send me another one from the store I purchased it from the other one came in damaged so that I had to return that one ... The third one came in and I'm having issues already with the touchscreen Also 😓 ..i'm now contemplating whether I should keep the 830 500 because I believe that there is an issue with the touchscreen not always responding

I've had the 5200 for years ( I didn't buy it from QVC) and it blends ice fabulously. I can't comment on the new model that just came out.

Yes, the 5200 has the smaller base than the newer ones.

I have heard the same thing ... I've done a 1:11/4 ratio and it's a lot better but definetly not perfect .. 😓

I was thinking of getting the 2500. Sorry to hear about the touchscreen. A new machine should not be having these issue, or for that matter an older one. Vitamix has an excellent rep and is known for their engineering. I was always a bit leary of touch screens as they seem to be delicate. I don't think Vitamix would release any machine until they thought it to be perfect as their rep is on the line. You might want to check out a facebook group called Vitamix Enthusiasts - Blender Lady. They were discussing ice crushing recently. You need to ask to join, but that should not be a problem.
Vitamix told me they will be coming out with 32 oz containers for the Ascent series. Do you find the Ascent any quieter?

Does anyone know when or if QVC will offer this model? Or any of the newer Vitamix models? Thank you.

I have that one too, for about 8 years now. I can't imagine what else I would want one to do, or how it would be easier to use. I love that machine!
